Overall Satisfaction with ServiceNow Now Platform

We use the ServiceNow Now Platform for all of our ITSM services, service catalog, CMDB as well as some non-IT use cases where ticket management and/or data hiding is required. We also use the discovery tool for all of our servers (on-prem and cloud)

Pros

Cons

  • Location of installation of applications/updates to the platform
  • Document site can be frustrating to navigate at times
  • When updating catalog items, having a "add all related" link for update sets would be wonderful
  • The automation abilities that the platform has have enabled us to reduce the amount of time required for onboarding/offboarding employees
  • We have been able to automate certain AD functions as well, which has reduced the amount of manual effort required
While there are some nuances to the tool that can be a bit awkward, overall it is a very simple and easy to use interface. From a development perspective,it is leaps and bounds over BMC Remedy.
After running with the BMC platform for over a decade, we switched to ServiceNow Now Platform for multiple reasons. It's placement over BMC in the Gartner Magic Quadrent, it's ease of use and development were among the top reasons. In my opinion, BMC has not aged/grown well with the times. Whereas ServiceNow Now Platform is a very elegant, modern solution (both in terms of use as well as development options) which provided us with a very robust platform on which to build on.

Anywhere that you need a ticketing system to track incidents, change, problem and work tickets. It also excels for asset and the service catalog. It also has the ability to create custom applications where you need something special or making ticket data available to only specific users.
