Overall Satisfaction with ShipStation

We have ShipStation integration to our WM system in order to ship parcel orders for our 3PL customers. With the integration we are able to send the order that need shipping to ShipStation, buy postage and prepare shipments. Once the orders are marked as shipped within ShipStation that information is then sent back to the WMS so that ASN info can be prepared for our clients.

Pros

  • Shop ratings for parcels with different carriers.
  • Show basic shipping history of orders.
  • Integrates while with other platforms.

Cons

  • The drill down abilities of the reports within platform for order info.
  • The overall communication to it users regarding policies and cost changes.
  • The ROI on monthly subscription of their different plan levels.
  • Forced to update to higher subscription levels to keep using service you are currently using.
  • Lack of communication of updates or policies causing delays in shipments.
  • Lack of communication about API updates causing data connection issues.
  • Ability to get detailed reporting of order history and activities is not desired.
There are just many issues regarding communication of policies and requirements regarding API usage and plan level needs that cause for the low rating. Also, the lack of reporting details that are available through the platform is not ideal for our 3PL needs to track activities of customer's orders and shipping Qty or activities.
ShipStation seems to provide the bare minimal compared to others in the industry. I would rate it one of the lowers in terms of shipping service providers.

For getting rates for parcel orders and integration with some ERP/WMS it is well suited. Where it is not well suited is the communication of updates to API requirements or to plan policy changes that limit the use of services being used like the API integration and what level of subscription is now required in order to use something that we were already using on low level plans. The lack in communication causes delays in our ability to process orders on time.
