Overall Satisfaction with Skype
We use it when we need to have remote meetings with teams of 4 or more. Skype provides a bit more of a corporate brand than Google Hangouts so some companies prefer that we use Skype for Hangouts
- Good job branding between personal and corporate use
- Ease of use
- Usernames that can be recalled easily and directly
- Good plugins
- Not easily linked or created from my calendar
- Seems to be an older brand now that is being chosen less
- Don't like that we need to have two seperate apps for Skype Business and Personal
- Skype has allowed us to easily connect with clients in SE Asia and Mainland China
- Skype has given us a fixed telephone number for our office that our customers can call and easily leave voicemails on
- Skype isn't as widely accepted with our US contacts and customers so that's one negative but we do enjoy the service!
- Google Hangouts Meet and Zoom
Skype used to be the go-to for everyone we worked with about 5 years ago but Google Meet and Zoom have quickly overcame the service. I'm not sure why though as the services are fairly interchangeable.
On our Windows computers Skype runs better than Zoom and Google Meet but on our Macs Zoom and Google Meet hold their own with Skype.
Skype also is a bit more user friendly for interns and junior level folks to get the hang of. Google Meet is the easiest to learn though
