Overall Satisfaction with Skype for Business (formerly Lync)

Our organization used Skype as the main messaging application across the entire organization globally for all employees. They are installed by default on all user machines and used as the primary instant messaging software for communication between teams and employees.
  • Established name
  • Simple and easy to use
  • Call quality is good
  • Not as many features as some other software
  • Enables easy communication between teams and employees
  • Foster better relationship even as teams work across different region
Skype for Business was originally used as the de facto enterprise messaging app for our organization, but we have since changed to Microsoft Teams as it allows more built-in collaboration tools such as teams and integration to other apps like Outlook, SharePoint, Jira, Confluence and many more while still retaining a good voice and video call quality. However for smaller organization or more face to face teams, Skype would still be a good alternative.

For simple communication via instant messaging and audio calls, Skype is more than adequate and does the job well. There are also integration options for other Microsoft products that will be useful. If the environment requires more collaboration tools aside from chat and calls, there may be other more suitable options to consider.
