Overall Satisfaction with Slack

It is the communication platform of choice for everyone at my organisation. We use it for meetings, chat, organising project ideas, sharing resources, the occasional meme, plan sprints, etc. We often use huddles to discuss issues and debug code while screensharing. It also helps communicate with clients, share notes in advance, etc.

Pros

  • Huddles work really well
  • Screensharing is quite reliable.
  • Sharing notes on the call and being able to attach them in the huddle thread helps declutter the chat
  • Threads are great.
  • Themes are nice

Cons

  • Customisation could be better. It often reverts to the wrong microphone on huddles
  • Can sometimes be slow
  • Annoyingly opens the help in a different workspace on Mac
  • Markdown editor and preview could be better.
  • Improved speed of communication
  • Improved ease of communication
  • Improved documentation of changes
Slack is a very simple tool to use and is extremely useful. The interface is intuitive and allows for quick access to both channels and dms. Searching for someone to start a new chat with is also quite intuititve. Would be great to have more keyboard shortcuts other than the one for settings. Otherwise great tool to use.
Slack's interface is more intuitive and easy to use than others. It's default colours and customizations make it easy to use in both light and dark mode. Other apps don't have this level of ease of use. Threads make it easy to organise messages and not lose track of information in a channel.

Yes

We already have the paid version of Slack and it is amazing. It helps keep records of communication and keep them organised instead of being all over the place. It is a bit difficult to search through all your chats and it's not all that accurate at times. Sharing files and searching for them can be a bit painful as well.
