Overall Satisfaction with Slack
We use Slack as our primary method of in-office communication. It is preferred by policy over everything else, including email. We use Slack in 3 primary ways, First, we use it for one-on-one communication. It is very simple to send someone a message, and they can quickly reply. Second, we use it to facilitate group communication. Each team can have their own channels to discuss issues and assist each other. Lastly, we use the Huddle feature, which lets you start a voice chat. Sometimes it is quick to hop on a quick call to discuss an issue. We can also share screens this way.
Pros
- Instant Messaging
- Group Messaging
- Status updates
- Active/Away Statuses
- Voice Chatting
Cons
- Notifications could be more configurable. When there are a lot of channels to monitor sometimes you can miss a notification
- Slack allows our Development team to communicate quickly, which speeds up development time
- Slack allows our Support teams to discuss issues and crowdsource information to help our customers, ensuring quick support turnaround time and better customer satisfaction and retention
- Slack makes it easy to send out notifications to the entire company, keeping everyone on the same page.
Slack complements our current technology stack. We use Microsoft products for most tasks, but we have found Teams and Slack to be more user-friendly and reliable than Microsoft Teams. It is easy to manage and add/remove users. It is easy to search and find answers to questions in previous conversations.
