Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor

Managing VM, server process, and HW Uptime. Maintaining visibility and reporting on related KPIs.

Pros

  • Single pane of glass integration
  • Cloud and VM support

Cons

  • Could always be cheaper
  • Easier creation of dashboard views for SR/executive leaders
  • Centralized monitoring to a single platform. Removing 3 servers and 1 head count.
  • Dashboards minimize the ad-hoc reporting required by SR leadership saving engineering time.
Migrating from Nagios to SW saved time and expense plus provided broader support services then previously available.
It’s lack of GCP support is the main downside for me. AWS/Azure monitoring is fantastic as is Bare Metal in the data center.
