Overall Satisfaction with Tableau Desktop

We use Tableau for analytics and analysis of various manufacturing units data. We build reports to analyze incidents and injuries that happen at the manufacturing plants. Tableau reports help users and managers to monitor the incidents and analyze their causes of them. this reduces the research time for each incident and also gives daily and weekly snapshots.

Pros

  • Creating various graphs using key data points.
  • Geographical representation of data.
  • Create Key performance indicators based on dates.
  • Trend lines, heatmaps.

Cons

  • More chart features/options outside of ShowMe.
  • A better way to represent financial data.
  • Data prep and data cleaning features.
  • Custom formatting options, date functions.
  • A better understanding of data.
  • Understand the root cause of issues and resolve them.
  • More insights and value of data.
  • Data integrity, strategy & productivity.
When compared to Power BI, Tableau has a more flexible deployment. You can install the desktop version without having to install the SQL server. Tableau got you covered end-to-end — from collaboration, analytics, content discovery, data prep & access, down to deployment. Tableau is known for its data visualization process which shows in different areas like user interface, data exploration, interactive visuals, deployment, and others. Tableau’s community is also massive with lots of conferences year-round. Because of this, Tableau has a firm grip on the needs and desires of its target audience.

I have been working with Tableau for the past 9 years and have seen a lot of new features and out-of-the-box techniques that are possible. there is always a better way to analyze & represent data to users. Tableau is user-friendly and easy to maintain versions with new server features it's easy to have security. we can restrict data at row level in Tableau.
Tableau's support team responds quicker with work/client licensing rather than to an individual. There are situations where we cannot share TWBX files and it takes a while for the support team to understand the issue and help/resolve it. I personally didn't have a resolution to my problem after contacting the support team in the past.
Tableau is one of the best BI tools to analyze data. Tableau helps to analyze weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly data with comparison to previous years. it also helps to analyze the best selling products or least sold products within a company. If users are still interested in visualizing data in excel format or in tables format Tableau is not the best tool.
