Overall Satisfaction with TrustRadius for Buyers

Recently our Customer Success Team looked at hybrid solutions for feedback and product management. As the Customer Success Manager leading the research, I was responsible for the evaluation and comparison of available products in the market. I searched out potential solutions, participated in demos, and interacted with the various sales reps for each solution. I wrote up a business case for my company after ultimately choosing the winning solution. Our VP of Customer Success - who I directly report to, our Product Managers, and my other Customer Success team members were also involved in the evaluation process.
  • To understand my options (i.e. build my short list or long list)
  • To compare products
  • To find evidence to support my recommendation to colleagues or my client
It's particularly helpful to be able to review quick 'Pros + Cons' from other users who have already experienced the tool. We also appreciate having access to a side-by-side comparison of two possible solutions alongside each other, particularly comparisons listing their features, pricing plans, and other pertinent data. Knowing that a larger amount of reviews for a solution will most likely be more trustworthy, we also focused on making sure the products we looked at had a wide range of user reviews.
I look for detailed reviews that are presented very objectively. They should have a good balance of things that the solution does well and things that the solution needs to improve. And usually the longer they are, the better - because it means that they are providing more information. I try to make my own reviews thorough so that they cover every possible feature of a solution that I've experienced myself. The more familiar I am with a solution, the more trustworthy my review is, so I look for people who seem to be expert or power users.
I think reviews bring a very personalized experience to the buying process - individual stories sometimes tend to be even more effective sellers than a salesperson themselves. Being able to read through trustworthy experiences from others who have already gone through the process has, in some cases, saved us the time of having to go through some of the evaluation process ourselves. Obviously nothing will ever come close to replacing a hands-on trial with the tool, but having someone tell you about it secondhand is almost just as good.
  • TrustRadius has a very clean, easy-to-navigate interface.
  • I like how TrustRadius does vet and verify user reviews so that they are legitimate.
  • When you're on a solution/software tool page, you'll see suggestions of similar software - that has been vastly helpful for me to begin the research process of looking for possible solutions.
  • Writing reviews is very easy because the prompts are worded well, and the submission process is very painless.
  • I think that TrustRadius could continue to improve their user interface to look even prettier. From a functionality standpoint it works well but I think aesthetically the spacing, fonts, and colors could be less standard and more branded for TrustRadius, and designed better.
  • My biggest qualm would be that there are not as many reviews on some of the products that I've looked at. The more engagement and review submissions TrustRadius can draw from its users, the better.
We participated in sales demos or webinars with each product's inside sales reps respectively, asked for access to the solutions via a free trial or demo version, and also looked at various resources and blog posts offered by the site. Reviews were a good addition to the entire evaluation process. While we wouldn't rely on reviews solely to determine our final solution, they provide a unique insight into the product that the other resources can't offer - personal experience and stories.
I think TrustRadius is one of the better review sites out there. I think TrustRadius' commitment to impartiality, by focusing on quality first and no ads, is very valuable and would draw me to TrustRadius over other review sites. I think I would prioritize checking TrustRadius first especially if they increased the amount of reliable data they provide in reviews as other review sites.
I think it would help best if review sites would be able to offer in-depth side-by-side comparisons of multiple similar products. The majority of my research went into an Excel sheet that, side-by-side, compared the various features, functionality, and perks that came with each software, which exceedingly helped me determine the final solution that we moved forward with.
TrustRadius is a great reference tool for buyers, but would be even greater if the number of reviews for solutions were improved (some solutions I've looked at in the past were very lacking in reviews). I also think that the design of TrustRadius can be improved aesthetically. Even so, TrustRadius shows a lot of potential and I appreciate the effort TrustRadius has undergone to help buyers such as myself make wiser, more informed decisions.
