Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Vasion Print as our enterprise print management solution. It simplifies the deployment and configuration process for our IT staff and gives our end-users a reliable printing solution. Previously, we just used the native Microsoft printserver functionality but sufferd through slow driver loading, complex deployment configurations, and challenging upgrades when we deploy new servers.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Ease of administration and day-to-day management for our IT staff.
End users have the ability to add printers 'on the fly' or use the pre-defined printers that have been provisioned for them.
Simple driver update process for the entire organization.

Cons

Requirement for Chrome browser add-in presented us with a unique, minor challenge. Without add-in the end-user has limited ability to manage their own printers.

Usability

We have been using Vasion Print for many years. As most administrators who have used Microsoft print services can attest, printer management can be a headache. Vasion takes that headache away. Printing is no longer of any real concern for us when considering deployment or desktop load times. Vasion Print just works!

Print Management Impact

We run a single Vasion print server for our organization of 260 employees, who are spread of 16 locations. We have 75 printers deployed for various departments, work groups, and bulk printing jobs. With well defined roles in the application we have streamlined our provisioning and support processes. Allowing our IT staff to focus on other things.

Far superiod product. All of my previous comments have addressed this.

Likelihood to Recommend

Vasion Print is a great solution for any printer deployment where you are working with non-persistent desktops. In the case of persistent desktops it provides and excellent way to manage and update print drivers and feature sets without having to touch each desktop. Deploying new printers or replacing old ones used to require a well thought out plan and deployment strategy if it was for a larger group of users. With Vasion we configure it in the console and can provision the printer easily to AD groups that have already been defined - choosing to deploy the printer or just make it available if the user would like to add it in the future.
