Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Spectrum for accounting and the work order plugins.

Pros and Cons

Pros

The ability to customize phase codes allows us to better dissect projects after completion to see what went wrong and what went right.

Cons

The project management features are a little lacking. We are going to be trying Viewpoint Team soon, so that might help bridge that gap.

Alternatives Considered

Sage 500 ERP, Sage CRM and Sage 50 Accounting

At a previous job, we utilized a very customized version of Sage 500 for work order/ticketing and I feel like it was much more streamlined. To be fair, I think more time and effort went into making the program exactly what was best for the company as a whole, but it seemed to run a lot more efficiently.

Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office 365

Likelihood to Recommend

Spectrum works fine for most accounting tasks and is suitably customizable for most of our accounting needs, but the project management side of the software is lacking. It would also be really nice if the time entry function was more mobile-friendly. We have a lot of field technicians that would prefer to log their time from a phone or tablet but struggle because the app is more suited to a keyboard and mouse.
