Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard AuthPoint
We use AuthPoint across all departments for our remote and work from home users. We use it to secure our VPN connections back into the corp network with 2 factor authentication.
Pros
- It integrates easily into our WatchGuard firewalls.
- Allows single sign on with Windows Domain controllers.
- Easy second factor authentication with push notifications on the mobile apps.
Cons
- It could allow some users to authenticate without multi factor for recovery of MFA tokens.
- The mobile UI needs improvement for adding tokens. Many users think it is still adding the token because the see the "progress bar" for the OTP in the app after successfully adding the token.
- Increased security of our existing VPN solution.
- Brought confidence of our security and compliance to new and existing clients.
- The Okta Identity Cloud and Azure Multi-Factor Authentication (Discontinued)
AuthPoint was easier to evaluate and implement into our existing network. We had a tight deadline and was able configure test and deploy AuthPoint with minimal user interruptions. Okta has more features and other forms of authentication that we will reevaluate in the future, but AuthPoint won out because of the quick timeframe we had to implement and deploy a MFA solution.
Because it only requires an agent to be installed on the network to facility automatic account creation and Radius auth, it was very easy to set up. It is managed thru the web that allows quick and easy access to who is set up with tokens. Because there is no new server to deploy there is one less thing to patch.
Our users love the app to authenticate. Because it uses push notification there is no need to open the app. All they do is allow the authentication request from the push notification.
Using SSO with our VPN has made it much more secure. Before the was no good mechanism for the users to change passwords, and none the didn't require IT help. Because to this most users had IT issued passwords on their VPN connections. After enabling SSO authentication we can now set the password complexity and aging requirements. Users also like that there is only one password to remember and are less upset about it having to be complex.
