Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard AuthPoint

We use WatchGuard AuthPoint to enforce MFA on all of our VPN connections to our WatchGuard AuthPoint device on-site. This allows all of our users to authenticate a second time, which increases our security posture while enabling us to receive our Cybersecurity insurance at a reduced rate.

Pros

  • Easy LDAP connection
  • Easy user setup, and syncing with our on-site AD
  • The push notifications work well with the Authpoint app, no issues at this point

Cons

  • Acquiring licenses can be a little odd, trying to find a reseller that will sell them in the way that I want
  • Enabled our cybersecurity insurance
  • Enabled us to utilize 2FA with an app separate from Google and Microsoft.
  • Added a layer of friction to our VPN process, which is necessary but some users have issues with
This solution has enabled the reduction in password resets, as the LDAP sync works well.
The enforcement of 2FA has allowed me to make sure that our users are using the 2FA.
NordLayer did not provide the connections we needed, which WatchGuard AuthPoint did, allowing me to sync our on-site devices to the Cloud.

At this point we have only used WatchGuard AuthPoint for our 2FA enforcement, but it works well and was easy to set up with the guides provided by Watchguard. We haven't branched out past this usage at this point, but the Watchguard Cloud interface is intuitive in setting up the application.
