Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We recommend WatchGuard Network Security firewall and network security to our clients. We use it for monitoring purposes and to ensure the legitimate is only allowed to our network. In my company, I am considered the go-to person for everything related to WatchGuard. We have used WatchGuard Network Security in multiple clients of ours, that includes the school, construction sites to establish site-to-site VPN, medical centers, etc.

Pros and Cons

Blocks rogue traffic, any traffic that is not included in the traffic rule is blocked.
Monitoring is ideal for network engineers. Their network monitoring tool is really good and provides a detailed insight into the packets.
Troubleshooting is easy because the errors are detailed and KBs are given to resolve. WatchGuard Support is quick as well, always available on the call.

End-point security - Panda blocks things that it should not.
Anti-spam emails - blocks a lot of emails due to links on the signatures pointing to external sites

Return on Investment

I do not work on the Sales side, so I am not sure about ROI but our customers are really happy with the whole network infrastructure that we have set up for them using the WatchGuard products.

Implementation Rating

Implementation is really easy since the documentation is already provided and support is always available.

WatchGuard Network Security Packaging and Licensing

Licensing is really straightforward for WatchGuard products, which is good. This has helped our organization with a lot of usual queries regarding the licensing. Normally, it's being dealt with by our Tech Sales team, but we techs have quite a good knowledge of the WatchGuard licensing since it's easy and simplified.

Alternatives Considered

Panda Email Security

We have used other products and they are not licensed together. They look pretty different products from each other. We have also used Panda Email Security, which is a completely different product. So yeah, WatchGuard Network Security products do not stack up together.
