Overall Satisfaction with Widen

We use Acquia DAM (Widen) for its DAM services for storing, sharing, and embedding creative materials within the organization and to external users. Prior to Acquia DAM (Widen), we used a hodge-podge of Dropbox/Google Drive. Having a single point for people to interact with has been beneficial and allowed for a more consistent understanding of the material for internal users.
  • Share links.
  • Metadata/Search Filtering
  • No folders.
  • Can be buggy in some use cases.
  • File type conversions not available in share links.
  • Some things that seem basic (extra portal customizability) require extra fees.
  • Side car documents/files can't be shared without having an account.
  • Simple customizations involve Acquia DAM (Widen) building instead of setting up yourself.
  • Metadata control.
  • User administration.
  • Link sharing.
  • Consistent deliverable location has strengthened workflows.
  • Easier access to content for end users.
  • Adobe plugins have allowed for better creative workflow.
We are pretty much at our budget, so it is unlikely that much could grow beyond where it's at, but we anticipate moving more people as active internal users instead of external/portal viewing users. We also are looking at more integrations that could be utilized to speed up workflows.
While the response time for first contact after a support ticket has always been good, we have occasionally encountered a slower ability to understand and fix issues that arise than would be expected. Luckily these are not consistent, but I've in the past had to figure out workarounds since a fix was not imminent and therefore couldn't count on the solution.
Many more potential content users have a much easier view of the material created than prior to having Acquia DAM (Widen). We also have the ability (and utilize) to embed as a service for hosting content/jpg on our website. We also have found the Adobe CC Integrations to be great time savers during the design process.
The breaking away from the Folder structure was a great selling point for Acquia DAM (Widen), and really is a great structural breakdown for us due to how many things we have that would fit in multiple folders instead of work within the category and metadata structure that we want to apply to it.

Do you think Acquia DAM (Widen) delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Acquia DAM (Widen)'s feature set?

Yes

Did Acquia DAM (Widen) live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Acquia DAM (Widen) go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Acquia DAM (Widen) again?

Yes

Great control for setting share permissions/restricting viewership to those you want to be able to access files when you have a large amount of material that may only be needed for select groups. Stronger controls for photo and creative design material sharing to clients than video for ease of access.
