Overall Satisfaction with Workday Adaptive Planning

Workday Adaptive Planning is critical to our business. It is very easy for any power user to pick up
and maintain. Enhancements can vary from
simple tweaks to complex modeling. We
use it for full P&L planning including bottoms up headcount and expense
planning. Our forecast goes out for at least 5 years, and the team always works
on a monthly rolling forecast. These forecasts
feed regularly into our monthly, CFO and Board decks.

Pros

  • Matrix Reporting is critical to view all of the summarized inputs at a high level
  • Collaboration between team members and ease of updates without risk of overriding each other's forecast
  • Seamless Integrations with Workday and external systems
  • Archiving Versions and spinning up What-ifs quickly
  • Constant product releases and updates.

Cons

  • Would like a bit more examples and tutorials on how to use certain functions/features best. They give good documentation, but examples will further refine it.
  • It's extremely easy it is to switch from Web to Excel, to reporting and have all the numbers tie out.
  • Drill-Through is very helpful for flux analysis
  • Shift towards ML/AI is very positive, and will future proof the tool.
Still a work in progress. Tool is mainly still in beta, and we have difficulty utilizing these tools successfully.
We have produce internal and external reporting directly out of our tool. Board reporting, Tax reporting, Investor Reporting, etc. Workday Adaptive Planning is critical for us to not only to house the data, but archive once complete. We are on the path to convert offline excel spreadsheets into Workday Adaptive Planning models.
Very quick learning curve to the tool. User interface is intuitive, along with help documents if you need deeper knowledge. Feedback from other, first time users are always positive.
Very easy to do it yourself. WIth Hyperion/Anaplan, I had to rely on outside resources to do basic model changes.

Started off as a new use to Workday Adaptive Planning and quickly took on the admin role. Very easy to get started, and very easy to maintain the model. Workday Adaptive Planning if there are any issues I encounter, there is an excellent support staff that is always on call, and answers depending on severity. There is also a healthy community of users that regularly bounce ideas off of each other.
