Overall Satisfaction with Workfront

Workfront is being used as an alternative to Microsoft Project. We were looking for an online solution for multiple employees to be accessing the project from across multiple departments, functions, units, sites, and divisions. We were looking for a way to accelerate project management vision to our leadership to ensure that our projects were able to deliver on-time, in full scope, and on budget.
  • The interface is easy to navigate, after a very brief introduction.
  • The search feature is top notch. I use this constantly as it is the fastest to find the project details I am looking for.
  • The reporting feature is both simple and advanced allowing for the right level of details for employees, managers and senior managers alike.
  • The training features are difficult to access, you need to navigate to a different site and log on again. This may be because of our site setup, but I don't believe it needs a level of security that I need to call for setup with each employee manually, which I currently am doing.
  • The level of security of the project management is much tighter than my department needs. It is time-consuming to ensure the right people have the right access within the license agreements we purchase.
  • We are still looking to have Workfront make a dent in our productivity. We are building Workfront into our routines but it is still hit or miss. The jury is still out if Workfront is the solution we are looking for. I see the potential, but the change management side is a struggle.
Our company only had Microsoft Project as an alternative. We wanted an online solution for easy access and a structured approach across the whole US at all of our sites. I believe Workfront is the right application for this ease of use and customization that will allow us to do our work easier, faster, and smarter.
Due to our company not rolling this out company-wide, and it is just localized to a select number of individuals, I am managing through some change management issues. Our employees do not have a high adoption of the behaviors around updating and managing projects in Workfront. I'm not blaming WorkFront for this, I am just highlighting the issues a company may have when installing the software. If the implementation is not top-down and without a strong message from leadership pulling for this technology, you may suffer the same struggles I am facing with speed of adoption and ultimate utilization of this solution.
