Higher Education and Foundation Use Case
Overall Satisfaction with Workfront
- Centralize projects in one solution
- Deliver client-facing services
- Govern compliance workflows
We have been able to collaborate cross-departmentally in a way that we didn't think was possible. Workfront has brought together several departments as well as two different organizations which share resources. We have also implemented an approval process for our major solicitations. This was a 20 year old need--that is finally met!
Pros
- Communication. By utilizing the updates tab within Workfront, the entire project team is aware of the status. This cuts down on our email threads and allows me to see how things are going on a project from a supervisor perspective.
- Flexible task management. We have templates to streamline processes, but every once in a while something doesn't fit neatly into those processes. With Workfront, you can easily add a new task without disrupting the entire project.
- Reporting. We've been able to utilize the reporting feature to give a real time look at how the team is performing. Where we need to make adjustments to help keep things moving on time.
Cons
- The resource planning tool is a little clunky to navigate and understand.
- Would like to see more 'out of box' reports for dashboard suggestions.
- Workfront is an expensive tool, but it has brought a significant amount of cross-departmental collaboration into our business processes. We want everyone in the organization to use this tool--it just seems unlikely with the current pricing structure.
Workfront is 100x better for our organization! SharePoint, while it has many project management benefits, did not provide the project specific communication component that we so desperately needed.
We have significantly cut down the number of meetings and phone conversations related to projects with the use of Workfront. We operate in three cities and this tool has allowed us to easily keep projects moving in all three locations.
We are currently utilizing and optimization and expansion package. The process to get us to actually having the meetings was, in a word, painful, but now that we're having the meetings they are going really well.
