Overall Satisfaction with Wunderlist

A colleague and I use Wunderlist as a simple to-do list that can be shared between us since I work remotely and he is usually not at his desk. We decided to try Wunderlist a number of years ago because we needed a simple tool that was able to automatically sync tasks between both of our phones. It's not used company-wide, but we began using it between the two of us about four years ago.
  • It's very easy and intuitive to use.
  • The user interface is streamlined and the perfect size for reading and using.
  • You can have multiple lists so that you can have a separate to-do list for each project.
  • The sync functionality is not very reliable.
  • The web interface is not any different than the mobile app's UI.
  • It's not easy to see which tasks have extra information/notes attached.
  • This is a very low priority tool that is only used on extremely low priority tasks due to reliability.
  • Wunderlist has provided a simple solution for keeping track of to-do lists between remote employees.
  • Due to the reliability issues, we are in the process of migrating to Trello.
The actual user interface and the way to navigate around the app is very intuitive and easy to learn/use which would make me give it a high ranking, but the syncing issues drop down my rating because there are times where you add an item to the list and then it just disappears. Then when you add it again the sync will happen and now you have duplicates. The other negative with the usability is adding extra information to an item, such as files or comments or assignments. You can do it but it's difficult to tell which items have this information from the main screen. You have to click on them individually.
I haven't contacted Wunderlist through any of their support channels. I'm actually not even sure how to reach out to their support group (if they have one) because again it seems like this app is mainly for personal usages, such as shopping lists, rather than an actual project management tool.
In terms of personal use, I think Wunderlist is probably better because it is so simple, but when it comes to project management/tracking or any type of corporate use, I would definitely recommend a tool like Trello because it has notifications built-in, a great web interface, and is really well suited for collaboration on projects.
Wunderlist is well suited if you need an easy-to-use list app that can be shared with multiple people. Due to the reliability issues, we do not use this for critical tasks or tasks that need to have collaboration involved, such as being able to create comments and attach files. Because of the sync issues, I also wouldn't use this as a personal list tracker where you aren't sharing it with anyone because sometimes you can create a task but then it will disappear for a while and "may" come back once the sync issues were resolved. Honestly, I think this app is probably more on the level of being a grocery list rather than a corporate project tracker.
