Great Tool that builds trust.
Overall Satisfaction with Brightmine
I operate in a stand-alone role for EMEA within a larger global business. Although a well-seasoned HR professional, I find Brightmine extremely useful to support and keep my knowledge up to date. We use employment law guides, country guides (for countries outside the UK), template letters and policy documents, training materials, and managers' guides regularly. They give me a great starting place and save me huge amounts of time. I use it to develop new policies, train leaders, deal with day-to-day ER situations, and everything in between. The daily and weekly updates are useful for sharing information with other colleagues who are not as well-versed in the UK employment legislative environment. I also particularly enjoy the support from the Employment Law helpline. Having used many other platforms in the past, I particularly value that Brightmine uses qualified solicitors to support the helpline. This is such a valuable resource, enabling great quality advice on case management for those tricky ER cases where you may need to use them as a sounding board or for just straightforward advice. I couldn't operate as efficiently as I do without the support of Brightmine.
Pros
- Employment Law advice line.
- Employment Law guide.
- Newsletters and advice alerts.
- Letters/templates/policy documents.
- Commentary and trends analysis.
Cons
- More country guides in particular for the EU region and convert more of the most commonly used ones to full platforms, e.g. Australia, France, and Canada.
- Improve searching for letter templates and documents. Whilst there is a huge range of documents available, there is still room to improve the library with more - sometimes I can't find what I'm looking for so have to use something close and adapt.
- Definitely saves me time personally, having all the resources in one place, and gives a great starting place for adaptation of materials and approaches to suit your own business. Difficult to quantify, but would estimate between 1/3 and 1/2 the time to produce materials save compared with the traditional use of Google or multiple sites.
- Without question, this year, we estimate we have saved around 1/3 of the cost of external legal counsel costs.
- Seen as a trusted source of information within the business, and leaders accept information when I explain my advice is backed up by either the platform or the helpline.
Knowing that the platform is kept up to date and documentation is relevant and accurate provides trust and saves time. Additionally, the alerts help you to plan for future upcoming changes to ensure you have time to be compliant.
As previously said, it enables you to be prepared in advance of legislative changes and take the time to properly consider the approach.
- CIPD HR-inform and Croner
I like the CIPD HR inform, and in terms of cost, this platform is considerably cheaper. However, the factor that triggers the choice of Brightmine is the Employment Law Advice Line being manned by solicitors. I have used Croner in a previous role, and generally, in terms of documentation, etc, it's pretty equal; however, for the same reason as above, for the HR Inform platform, the advice line is invaluable.
