Zen with Zenefits
Overall Satisfaction with Zenefits
Our US and Global work locations use Zenefits for time off, benefits, onboarding, offer letters, and many more things. I love how the system can send automated emails to take more off my plate (very welcome as an HR Professional) and allows our employees to self-enroll in their benefits with an easy to use and intuitive platform. This is a great system for US employees but it's not as robust for an international employee base.
Pros
- Easy to use--it's easy to learn how to use the system.
- Customer Service--it's quick and easy to get a polite response.
- Benefits--great to have our selections in the same place.
- Customizable --we've created a lot of unique reports and settings to make our processes more efficient.
- Intuitive--our employees do not need to be trained on where to find information or how to find it.
Cons
- Time off--it's hard for the system to accommodate unique policies
- Reporting--some of the fields are not customizable
- Customer Service--some of their reps are very green and aren't familiar with basic HR practices
- International--It's great for the US but a lot of their compliance and reporting features don't work well for non-US entities.
- Positive--saves us time by automating emails and processes
- Positive--easy for employees to transparently view their benefits
- Negative--our PTO is always messed up without fail every year
- Positive--easy enough to add new fields into the system to track pertinent data and report on it
Kronos and Zenefits are very different--it's almost hard to compare them because Kronos is designed for a much larger corporation. But honestly, Kronos really lied to us during the sales phase, as most of their system is hard-coded and cannot be changed based on a business. That's not a huge deal for a small company but when you get bigger that really matters. Zenefits is also not as easy to customize, but that fits their audience so it makes sense.

- Human Resources - manages information within system, answers basic questions about using commonly used features such as time off, benefits, FSA, etc.
- Finance - Runs payroll and answers payroll-related questions
- Employees request PTO through this system
- Running payroll
- Hiring, terminations, employment changes, and reporting on all of those features
- Benefits administration, enrollment, and management
- Reporting and automated reports
- Syncing PTO calendars with company gmail calendars
- Using hiring emails that are automated to not miss compliance deadlines
- As they grow their compensation feature we'd be interested
- Same with performance reviews, if this grows we'd look into it
