Best webconferencing tool I've ever used!
Overall Satisfaction with Zoom
I'm a remote employee at an organization where everyone else works on campus, so I use Zoom frequently to meet face-to-face with my colleagues. The free version is great, though it does have some restrictions that we haven't found to be dealbreakers. Others at the school use it as well, but I use it more than almost everyone, I'd expect.
Pros
- Easy to use: I have the software, but you can join a meeting from a browser as well.
- Virtual background: It's super fun to play with green screen backgrounds. No fancy software is needed, and it actually works better than most green screen software I've tried!
- The video quality is top-notch!
Cons
- I honestly can't think of anything that Zoom could do to improve. All of the limitations with the free version go away with the paid version, which is totally fair. I am very impressed with the product, and haven't used a better web conferencing tool.
- I'm the first full-time employee to work 100% remote, and with Zoom I can still see my colleagues for meetings. The existence of Zoom was certainly a factor in them approving my switch to working remotely.
I exclusively use Zoom Rooms. I'm not sure I leverage any significant capabilities of it, but all of my meetings are "in my personal room." The basic web-conferencing functionalities are sufficient for me, but the quality is unmatched!
- Jabber and GoToMeeting
Zoom was chosen for me, but I do occasionally use Jabber. Jabber is MUCH more finicky, and doesn't work consistently. I think we don't use GoToMeeting because it's more expensive.
