Overall Satisfaction with Zoom

During the uncertain times following quarantine, Zoom has been used across the organization as a whole as a means to connect. Addressing the issue of formerly unsafe or non-socially-distanced means of communication be it in meetings or after work for social gatherings and community building exercises, Zoom became the program to use as a substitution for any internal face-to-face conversation.
  • Usability
  • Lack of pop-ups/advertising
  • Sleek internal system for engagement and messaging
  • More flexible viewing arrangements
  • Privacy concerns and overall security issues
  • Confusing Meeting Set-Up menu
  • Achieved a means through which the entirety of our staff can communicate
  • Provided a useful and engaging tool for meeting notes and schematics to be drawn
  • Offered an automatic means to record and store meeting notes for employees unable to make meetings
Zoom Phone is a great alternative for those who have access to a computer but may not have the technical skill or equipment necessary to utilize a proper microphone. Thanks to this alternative means to give more participants a voice in the meeting, whether the employee is out of the office, in the midst of driving, or at home lacking internet access as long as they have the specific code they too can join in.
While Skype was certainly a trailblazer in the field, it has outworn its welcome in terms of usability. Bloated with ads and overall sluggish on most modern interfaces, its need for separate accounts and technical know-how is just too outdated for the needs of a modern office environment. Though Discord has the features needed in spades, the unprofessional look and verbiage used within the program cements it as a social tool rather than a professional one.
I feel like in most business situations Zoom is the best application for screen-to-screen interfacing with clients, partners, and coworkers. While the days of Skype are long gone due to its bloated nature and ungodly amount of advertising and technical issues, the only other option that comes to mind is Discord which despite its popularity doesn't have a clean and professional look or feel. I'd say unless you truly enjoy the "hip" user interface of Discord, Zoom is well suited for meeting from business to casual.
