Overall Satisfaction with Zoom Video Webinar
I use Zoom in two contexts. The first is for my TEDxIndianapolis organizing team. The second is for my company. The reason I use it for both is simple - it just works. For virtual meetings and seeing faces, Zoom is easy to spin up at a moment's notice. The video component is very good. For the same reasons, but more bent towards screen sharing, Zoom is also very good. What folks may or may not know about Zoom is that it is, by use of the mobile app, able to work on Apple CarPlay, so taking a voice meeting on the commute is fair game...and a game changer.
- Screen sharing.
- Video conferencing.
- Handling the VOIP/Telephony.
- Fast meeting initiation.
- Not terribly many come to mind - they really have thought of everything. The only limitation I have experienced is corporate adoption. Even their free version runs great and cuts off at a reasonable time.
- It has positively impacted us for being a great first choice and an even better backup.
- Not being the primary corporate tool for video conferencing (we are a Microsoft house), we sometimes get the "what's Zoom?" response sending out meeting invites - that is until they see that it just works and know why.
- For my TEDx organizing team, it is indispensable because we need a free solution that allows us to seamlessly connect as a team with whatever device we have.
- Apple CarPlay....yes, yes, and yes. That has been a lifesaver.
- Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business (formerly Lync), Google Hangouts, Webex Meetings, GoToMeeting and BlueJeans
Zoom is a cut above the other tools because it just works, the mobile app is excellent across all platforms, it integrates very well with calendars of any kind, Apple CarPlan, and the two license models work as tiered licensing should. The other platforms are okay, but haven't mastered the simple elegance of Zoom. You may not be able to get around what tool your company deploys, but if you need to get sorted out in an instant, Zoom is an obvious choice. Teams, Skype, Hangouts, Webex, GoToMeeting, and BlueJeans all seem to have a layer of overhead that keeps them from keeping pace with Zoom.
