Overall Satisfaction with Zoom Workplace
We use Zoom Workplace for collaborative purposes. Keeping a dispersed employee workforce connected is a challenge, but a unified platform for phones, chat and meetings makes it easy to keep everyone in sync.
We use the typical Zoom meetings for online meetings and conference calls. We also use the Zoom chat for teams feature. This is a slack like interface that allows our employees to send quick messages to on another and to groups to allow real time collaboration. Additionally we use Zoom phone as a phone system for our employees. Allowing people to chat, then click a button to call keeps collaboration easy and allows conversations to seamlessly flow from one medium to another.

Pros
- Meetings - this platform is easy to use and a industry leading.
- Team chat - this is a simple interface that meets all the needs of a chat system.
- Continuing to expand the platform - new features are always coming out and expanded upon.
- Scheduling - the scheduler makes coordinating with outside parties much quicker than going back and forth in email and is included in the platform.
Cons
- Some new features are hard to understand where they fit and how they are used as they just show up and some of the documentation isn’t as full featured as needed.
- The phone system needs to have campaigns for SMS to work. While this is most likely an industry policy that Zoom Workplace is just complying with and the documentation walks you through it, it does make using Zoom phone with SMS a little clunky.
- Getting the client to have the right features and locked down in the right way, can be challenging.
- Increased collaboration and participation in online meetings (and less use of conference rooms)
- Provided a business solution for remote phone usage (removed sales teams from giving out cell phones for everything)
- Less reliance on travel for online meetings and allowance for remote travel. Cost savings on travel
- 8x8 Meet (discontinued), Fuze and Microsoft Teams
The user interface for Zoom Workplace is much easier to use for our employee base. As we looked at these other platforms, they were just not intuitive to use. There were strange processes to escalate from a chat to a call or a meeting or screen sharing was not intuitive and our users would not be able to figure that out without much training.
Teams was the closest to meeting the needs, however there was extra complexity in the teams client for chat. There were multiple areas you could create, and other tabs you could add to your chat. This offers a lot of flexibility but creates complexity that we did not need. We also had poor experience with Microsoft and their telephony so we opted to stay away from the Teams solution.
