Overall Satisfaction with Zuora

[Zuora] is being used by the finance, sales, and success teams. It addresses the problem of not being able to have visibility into billing internally or externally. It also saved us from the issue of having no real "order" object in our system to track changes to subscriptions. The RevOps team has also been heavily involved.

Yes, we previously had our billing plans and pricing baked into our software's backend which made it challenging to change pricing or give discounts on the fly. With Zuora, those product plans are now managed within Zuora so we can change pricing and packaging without a lift from engineering, saving lots of hours and frustration.

We want customers to have crystal clear information about their billing and invoicing. We haven't achieved this outcome with Zuora yet, but haven't fully rolled it out. Zuora is a heavy lift to implement, but we believe it will be a worthwhile investment and will lead to increased visibility into key financial data both internally and externally.
Zuora provides way more functionality than Recurly or SaaSOptics as a billing engine. However, it is not a general ledger system like NetSuite ERP, it is still designed to be primarily a billing function that feeds into a general ledger via automated general entries. It has simplified our invoice management and automated billing while connecting with Salesforce for high-powered reporting and cross-departmental collaboration. The automation of revenue recognition has the potential to significantly reduce the time spent on accounting close by a few days.
Zuroa is very well-suited for B2B businesses that primarily have a subscription stream of revenue. It is less appropriate for B2C and retail, if you are only selling one-time products or services, this tool would be overkill and confusing instead of helpful. However, if you need to recognize revenue from subscriptions over the service period, Zuora is a lifesaver.
