I think 15Five is well suited for any organization but especially well suited for larger teams and/or teams that are in various geographical locations. For small teams that work closely together on a daily basis, the user may not see the same returns since there would be ample opportunity for communication.

Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment

PI is exceptionally suited to discuss teams, for use in recruitment situations and to guide team interactions. I would not use it in any shape or form to guide young people's careers.

Pros

  • Flexibility to set your questions by company/team/individual.
  • It is a weekly reporting platform that also has the functionality to do end of year reviews. Having continuity makes the end of year process much more streamlined.
  • Allows individuals to set, report and record progress on weekly goals. These users can then go back later and review these goals and progress throughout the year.
  • The assessment is simple and easy to take. From the perspective of potential candidates, we wanted to offer them something that wouldn't take them 30 minutes or more to complete. Searching for a job is time-consuming and taxing enough, we don't want to burden people any more than necessary.
  • The data that the PI Behavioral Assessment provides is the most accurate of all the various assessments that we experimented with. The hardest thing to gauge during the interview process is culture fit. The PI gives us an advantage that no other assessment offers; a look into the crystal ball of the all illusive question of culture and job fit.
  • For management training and employee relations issues, the data from the PI Assessment is invaluable. Imagine that you are trying to hang a picture on the wall by using a sponge to drive the nail in. You can try all day and even question your handy-man abilities, but the bottom line is...you need a hammer. The PI Assessment is the exact tool you need to take your management training and employee relations issues to the next level and drive home results.

Cons

  • The interface to set up the question frequency is a bit confusing.
  • The 360-degree review functionality is relatively new so there are still some kinks to work out on this part of the product.
  • Some of the Reference Profiles seem very similar. Maybe consolidating could help.

As with anything, there are always ways that the product can get better and continue to grow in its offerings and support. However, my team has been very impressed with the ease of use of the system. Our managers have their own log ins and there is no tutorial needed to explain how to use the website

Alternatives Considered

We did not review other products
I have used MBTI, Strengthsfinder, Disc, Kolbe among others. I find they all have their place. PI was already in use at my company when I joined. However, as I became certified and used it more, I have found it very effective. The reports have just the right amount of information so that users get meaningful insights without being overwhelmed. When providing readbacks, users resonate highly with the assessment results. I don't think I've had a single user who did not tell me that their assessment was "spot on." And the new tools for looking at relationships between individuals and the team dynamics are spectacular

  • It has provided a positive impact on the 'kudos' or positive reinforcement our employees can provide to one another.
  • When used correctly, our managers make better hiring decisions and put people in the right roles. This reduces turnover and increases employee engagement.
  • When used for team dynamics, we have seen reduced conflict and more effective teamwork.
