7Shifts is ideal for a broad number of restaurant clients, whether it is a single unit, independent location or multi-unit, multi-jurisdiction group like ours. Pricing is very reasonable, and as mentioned earlier, a lightweight and intuitive platform makes it easy to implement and maintain, and scalable for growth

Jobber - Field Service Software
When you have a lot of techs out in the field, Jobber helps to keep track of who is assigned to which job. This lessens the likelihood of miscommunication or having jobs "fall through the cracks." Techs do not need to physically come to the office for their assignments each day which saves time and money since they can access their Jobber assignments through their phones.

Pros
7shifts
  • Staff can easily access fellow team members' contact info (phone & email).
  • Staff can easily enter availability or time off.
  • Managers have a log book to share issues or updates from the days’ shift so quick action can be completed easily if needed.
  • Being able to communicate with managers only, with a specific department, or with the entire staff easily is very helpful.

Jobber - Field Service Software
  • The recurring job feature was key to our decision in selecting Jobber. There's a lot of flexibility in how you schedule recurring work. I especially like that you can select the frequency (weekly, monthly) coupled with either a specific date or day of the week/month.
  • Client email reminders help our clients know when we're coming and provide an important point of contact. Customizing the email was easy.
  • Client overview. It's extremely helpful to be able to view a client's record and see the upcoming visits along with the completed work.

Cons
7shifts
  • When creating schedules I wish there was a way to remember the last schedule you were on instead of ordering them in alphabetical order.
  • When working on a schedule, again when you revisit it, it alphabetizes the employees instead of keeping them in the order you add them. This is pertinent for our business because we're reservation-based and work off of a rotating schedule where the lowest ones are called off if there are not enough reservations.

  • Pricey. They should consider some more affordable options.
  • Design. As we ramped up our visual identity we were looking for a more modern design.
  • To include visible discounting options on quotes, for example.

I am anxious to replace it but there will be effort to learn and switch.

Jobber - Field Service Software
It is usable in multiple settings, but in my opinion preferably for small to medium-sized organizations. It covers the process as a whole and can be used in any segment (from creating a quote to client communication). The mobile app is very usable, intuitive, and especially useful for people working in the field

Support Rating
7shifts
I would say everyone at our store really appreciates the fact that we have 7shifts. We would be lost with out it. It would be hard to find anyone that does not support the software.

Jobber - Field Service Software
There is hardly an app that covers it all while staying simple and wrapping up the process. From the filing of the request, everything goes smoothly following a natural progression. Reports are insightful, give you an instant overview and easy to understand. In addition, you can easily track any information from those on clients to expense tracking.

Alternatives Considered

For me, 7Shifts has the same amount of functionality, but for a much better price. The app functionality of 7shifts was easier to navigate and allowed me to do more than HotSchedules. I've recommended it to several other local businesses who have implemented it as well and had great luck.

Jobber was the best for us by offering the right amount of professional features while not being overwhelming for a small company to use.

Return on Investment
7shifts
  • Positive: Less call outs/ and missed communication due to internal conversations that were never communicated. For example, employees tell manager A they are not coming but Manager A does not tell manage B and C.
  • Positive: Manager log book has helped multiple departments stay in touch and on the pulse of the floor operation. Departments like HR, events, reservations, AP/ AR, etc. are not empowered to be more proactive
  • Labor and sales are tracked and can be forecasted which has helps us schedule SMARTER

  • This has helped us keep costs down by routing our jobs more efficiently. Specifically, it saves tons of time in routing the jobs, but also saves time/fuel for our drivers.
