Much more secure and professional capabilities for a corporate environment. Macrium is good for personal use, and OneDrive has very limited options and coverage. You can be precise in what you back up and how frequently with Acronis Cyber Protect and not worry about it.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
We decided to go with it because the licenses were inexpensive, but still offered a lot of options. In addition, the license term was also very long, which means we have stable costs for the next 5 years.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Acronis had the best price-to-performance ratio for our environment of a couple of bare metal servers and a vSphere environment of 10 VMs. The web console for Acronis was the most user-friendly and not difficult to set up and understand. Veeam is top in its class, but it was …

Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Acronis Cyber Protect is usually the best choice for SMBs: it offers the widest range of functionalities for less €. On top of that, the principle of the console which gives access to all products is a nice differentiator, and the killer feature is the "DR" button!

Veeam is gold, but it can't back up the VMs using snapshots on Scale hypervisor. In my opinion, Acronis Cyber Protect can't do anything right that Veeam can do with ease.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Acronis is more suited to business backups of servers than Backblaze with does cater to servers.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
We've looked at SolarWinds, Veritas, etc. but none of them had the right combination of features, price and ease of use when compared against Acronis and its ease of implementation, setup and recovery options. We didn't like the wait time for recovery with some of the others …

Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Both Acronis Backup and Macrium Reflect provide basic backup services. I feel like Macrium is aimed more towards personal use. Acronis's cloud options were a key difference for us.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
I began to compare Symantec against Acronis, because Symantec was the only software for backups and restoring that I knew. But Acronis, besides it being a little more expensive, has the best functionality and saves more time between restoring and backups for me.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
You will be hard-pressed to find this feature set at a lower price point.
Chose Acronis Cyber Protect
Those products are all very similar. They all have pros and cons, but at the end of the day, they are all very much the same. You pick the one that you like the most, you definitely have to try many. For us, we use it for end user computers, and use something else for VMs, and …

We had a huge partner that let us discover this great service provider.

Chose Cove Data Protection
We prefer N-able as it seems more secure and also easier to recover the backups.
Chose Cove Data Protection
Provide storage infrastructure which Veeam didn't provide with their software. For us that is a major point.
Chose Cove Data Protection
Works well. Easy to use. If you use Ncentral, it's already tied in and even easier to deploy. Cloud storage is more expensive than competitors. There is no easy option to offload your backups to AWS, etc. It can create a local speed vault to have local backups as well. …
Chose Cove Data Protection
So the live recovery of VEEAM is awfully nice, and it's GUI is laid out and easy to use. Windows Server Backup is about a bare-bones as it gets. It's been my experience that Solarwinds Backup just wins at every turn. It's fast, easy to deploy (well, if using N-central), and …

If you don't have to manage your client's email and their email archiver Acronis works very well. If you're looking for just a backup service for what's on a particular computer then Acronis is perfect. It is easy to use, so newcomers are not overwhelmed with features. It does not include as robust features as Barracuda and Cloudberry, but it does work well as just a backup.

Solarwinds Backup is ideal for individuals looking to keep a consistent backup of devices in their environment. We used it primarily for networking equipment. It is easy to set up, as it is one of the steps available when adding a new device to solarwinds. It is probably not an ideal product to use for long-term (1 month+) backups.

Pros
  • Image based backups. After the initial backup, the backups happen quite quickly. This allows for multiple backups per day.
  • We have different classes of data which requires different retention policies. Acronis makes that easy to manage.
  • Restoration can be done directly to hardware or to a VM. This makes it easy to migrate a physical server to a VM.

  • Daily backups are easy to create and activate and run on schedule as desired by the client.
  • Easy SQL backups no matter your SQL favor, it's just a few clicks to back them up.
  • Very good system state backups that several of our older clients have used (out of necessity) to recover systems and data from dead machines.

Cons
  • Backing up Sharepoint automatically backs up all users with access to Sharepoint even if the user is not needed to be backed up
  • Complex licensing structure
  • Needing to manually download workloads to move backups
  • Dormant users still backed up and incurring charges

  • To perform restores on a different location, there's a need to install a standalone application call the Recovery Console, which makes it too much trouble. Instead, this should have been performed over the same backup management portal, where you should have been able to select in which location you want to restore.
  • The business continuity features, available for the system state backups, like restoring a backup as a virtual machine or performing a bare-metal restore, also require to install different standalone applications for each. And in disaster scenarios, both tasks take too much time to get everything running.
  • The retention of the backups (the archiving feature) needs to be set up individually for each server at a time, when this is something that should be more easily managed by the service provider (not expecting to be set up by the customer in each device) as a general setting within the Backups Profiles or Product Management.
  • There should be a better reporting tool, that would allow to export backup and restore events, as well as user activities.
  • The configurations for Backup Profiles and Product Management could be redundant and confusing.

Acronis Cyber Protect has been reliable for our core use case — host-level VM backup for our Hyper-V environment. The Virtual Host licensing model has worked well for us, letting us cover all VMs on a host under a single license rather than managing per-VM costs, and it gave us the flexibility to migrate the license when we shifted workloads to a different host. Application-consistent backups via VSS integration have also given us confidence in our recovery capability for workloads like SQL Server.

Usability
The web layout is very easy to understand. There are many points, all easy to understand; there are many settings, clearly described; and each point is accompanied by a description. In addition, the Protect Cloud is clearly distinguished from the management portal, preventing confusion.

Cove Data Protection is very usable as it's easy to tell that it is made to not only do backup very well, but it's also easy to deploy. The agent-based deployment allows for flexible deployment options while ensuring a minimal amount of manual work is needed on the dashboard end. Recovery is also very easy, especially as it relates to one-off file recovery

I only got one issue resolved for more than 20 cases open. The escalation is ineffective. Most of the time, I have the feeling that I know the solution better than the support technician. Overall, case management is time-consuming, as our resolution rate is really low

All the partners are followed with a lot of attention, even the little ones.
there is a site where you can learn everything, the single parts of the product are described perfectly.
Every it specialist should evaluate it.

I don't have any real key 'insights' per say except that it wasn't difficult at all, and do not be afraid to dabble in its tools and settings. It is quite intuitive with built in common sense. I cannot say enough good things about our companies experience when using this backup software.

Scalability
The ability to back up multiple servers from one source is a great tool to have for businesses that have equipment in different locations on the same network with a variety of software data to back up such as SQL, Exchange or a Files Server. You can decide to purchase individual server licenses as well if you would like to keep the process separate or have multiple sites where your data is housed.

Return on Investment
  • Every times you restore a file, you see the value and the ROI of backup.
  • Backup is a great protection against ransomware, you can always restore files that has been infected.
  • When you want to go back in previous version of files, it can be life saver.

  • I can't speak to every dollar and cent involved, but I can tell you that the daily task of checking backup status has changed from at least an hour just to check VEEAM and Windows Backup statuses for multiple clients, to checking two pages and then digging into any problems. So as far as productivity goes, it's been wonderful!
