After some experience, I think that this is probably the best and most functional backup and recovery software available for the Windows platform. It's straightforward and can act as an insurance policy against disaster. Quite good for the price, to be honest. It has so far saved me from an absolute disaster twice, and I am certain to maintain the latest version for each of my PCs. If you decide to save your restore image to a USB drive, it will require formatting, so it's best to have at least one dedicated volume, accessible by plugging into a USB port, for the purpose.I purchased this software following my experience with Disk Director, which I still use, although I'm not certain that it's up to date. I've noticed that the 2020 version is available on the company's website, but that my software hasn't notified me that an update is available.

MSP360 Backup (formerly CloudBerry Backup)

For any Managed Service Provider (MSP) that offers backups services to its clients, Cloudberry MBS is a winning solution. It is fast, powerful, flexible and priced to provide room for decent profit margins for the MSP. MSP's that handle clients so large that they need Appliance-based backups and recovery will need more sophisticated (read pricier) solutions, but for the vast majority of customers that have 1-10 servers, CloudberryLab MBS is an excellent solution.

Cons

Acronis True Image

  • Maybe price for the end-user. Some think it's kind of expensive for a household, given that they could have Clonezilla for free.
  • Better support for third party backup providers like Wasabi.
  • Better mobile UI.

MSP360 Backup (formerly CloudBerry Backup)

  • The CloudBackup Drive has some issues.
  • Would be nice to have a single interface to manage all my servers.
  • Requires a console on each machine being backed up.

I love Cloudberry. I am using it at three different sites to backup their mission critical file servers and it works great. It is a very cost effective backup solution that is easy to setup and use and the support is also very good. I would recommend it to anyone that needs a good backup solution for their business.

They have a great app with more backups. It can be confusing to provide and push backups until you get used to it. Auto-renew is also a little weird with the licenses.

It's easy to set up, but a few things prevent it from being great. All the computers require one license. You have to stay on top of it, otherwise you fill up data storage with outdated and unused data. It's super easy to call CloudBerry for support and they are very friendly to work with. It's difficult as a tech when you want to fix the issue, but you are relying on technical support. Many times an error happens and you cannot find a single issue. The only solution is to update the application and hope the newest build fixed the issue.

Easy and successful implementation and the results have been very good with no issues since the install and go live. I highly recommend Cloudberry Backup software to anyone needing an easy to install, setup and manage backup solution. Excellent product with great features and reliability at a very good price point.

Alternatives Considered

Even though it worked, still preferred the paid product because it performed better and was more reliable. Acronis has a well established name and reputation. When I started using it back in 2009, I used it as a free/eval product and because it worked so well then, I decided to purchase it. I have purchased an upgrade every so many years.

The MSP360 web management portal is unbeatable. It makes management and fault correction much easier. Unfortunately, Veeam does not have this without setting up a specific server for this purpose.

MSP360 Backup (formerly CloudBerry Backup)

  • We spend little time managing the backups once deployed.
  • It is a little more expensive than other backup solutions by the time you figure in the cloud storage portion.
