comScore's Digital Analytix Enterprise (DAX) product was acquired by Adobe in 2015 largely for its European customer base, with the goal of migrating former DAX customers to the Adobe Analytics cloud. Thus, DAX is no longer available.

Spectrum Spatial Insights by Precisely (based on the former GeoInsight by Pitney Bowes) helps users to test strategies, taking into consideration key market and competitive drivers. Detailed forecasts and financial impact assessments can be created for every scenario, to provide an actionable, defensible plan of action. Ultimately, this enables users to know a projected Internal Rate of Return (IRR) before making capital decisions.
DAx has the features, very advanced features (mentioned later) that a power user needs, and is highly customizable, but doesn't require software or hardware ownership. For those capabilities that are not currently there, the customer reporting team often finds a workable solution that we can present to our client. For the more basic users and executives, the dashboard often meets their needs; else the report tab can help with quick access to metrics that have already been built by analysts. Lastly, the level of complex analysis in the tool still impresses. You can analyze web events at the event level, visit level and visitor level. You can apply filters at the report level (for all three - event, visit and visitor) or metric level (again for all three levels). On top of that, they have a concept of scope and rules which, combined with the 3 levels, can really allow a power analyst to ask just about any question and get an answer.
Meltwater is well-suited for agencies that have an engagement team who is looking to service a variety of client needs such as social media reporting, public relations outreach, and community management. If you're looking to have a platform serve just one need, you can still use Meltwater but will get more bang for your buck if you are needing a variety of tools.

As previously mentioned, as long as the web platform works, the software is quite useful. However in places or areas where the platform operates with low standards (poor reception signal), the versatility and usefulness of the program decreases considerably. This type of problem in developed countries probably does not occur, or if it occurs it does very infrequently. But in non-developed countries, the frequency of occurrence can be a factor to take into consideration when choosing an program based exclusively on a web platform.

Media research - you can search for relevant publications and journalists to add to your media list.
Earned media coverage - you can search for coverage of your brand and find news stories that also include data that may be useful (how many people did the story reach for example).
Building media lists - if you have no current existing list, you can build and export one in Excel for example.

It allows us to visualize data with extreme ease, through maps and graphs, patterns and tendencies.
This visualization allows, in turn, to make decisions more quickly and with a greater amount of information than what a good part of software of the same nature allows.

While I know they are making strides in this area, Digital Analytix is definitely built with power users in mind. The learning curve can be steep.
Because the platform is non-restrictive in terms of label/variable naming, power users need to have intimate knowledge of their schema in order to build reports on their custom variables.
The dashboards are not user-friendly, customizable (color, font size, etc.), or worthy of presenting to a client. All of the insights from a dashboard get pulled from the platform and placed into a more client-friendly presentation.
Paywalls for certain publications connected to who-knows-what. DowJones racket limits media monitoring capabilities and results in manual searches for a growing number of publications.
TVeyes, the broadcast monitoring arm of the media monitoring capabilities, just needs TLC and to become more client-facing. Currently, the links produced to share clips look sketchy, and they have a relatively short shelf life.

Being a web-based platform can, in some cases, be counterproductive, especially in areas where internet and satellite coverage are of low quality or are not available, such as jungle areas.
The results obtained, in most cases, need to be interpolated, in order to completely characterize the study area.
The interpolation functions are those that are typically used in commercial software used in this area of study, and have the same limitations. When using it I have not found any novelty regarding this.

My company does not utilize Digital Analytix for our own service, we simply provide professional services for it. As such, I can't really answer this question in a meaningful way.
Meltwater works well for our organization and has allowed us to meet our internal goals. We are always open to new products and services that may be able to provide similar or better features; however, our experience has been that many of Meltwater's competitors are not up to the task.

Once you get some basic training it's pretty easy to use. I would like to see training manuals, or instructional videos to help me explore features I'm not currently using.
Our account rep at Meltwater went dark for a long time. Then, a couple of weeks ago, our new account manager reached out to set up a meeting. Apparently, they had a big shakeup in the company, and there were some personnel changes. Our new account rep was great in discussing the platform's capabilities that were available to us and even offered to schedule a follow-up meeting with his technical team to introduce our new social media team members to the platform and how it could help them with their jobs.

I have proficiency with Google, Adobe and IBM (formerly Unica's) enterprise offerings. For companies primarily interested in basic reporting, managing a lot of users with very similar needs, and who don't necessarily have the in-house manpower or expertise to build a lot of reporting from scratch Google and Adobe's offerings can typically be safer choices. comScore and Unica offer a more advanced, analyst friendly tool that can be essential for targeted marketing and for a more flexible implementation and can still do all the things that their competitors can do - if you're satisfied with the learning curve for basic users, the advanced capabilities of comScore make this a very worthwhile tool for a digital business.
I was looking for a full-service option. I did some research. What really sold me was the presentation. They offered products that were helpful, and I wasn’t even aware of them. It is more expensive than the other products that are out there, but you get more. The other companies are good, but Meltwater Media Intelligence is more full service.

In comparing GeoInsight to other products, I will not be of much help since this software is, as far as I know, almost exclusively used in activities related to the financial world, rather than geographical. That is why it is usually included in software of the AML (Anti-Money-Laundering) type. My interest in the program was to see its capacity for data storage and practical utility to facilitate decisions, compared to other software but more linked to geographic information (GIS software).

As a PR firm, we rely on the media databases that [Meltwater Media Intelligence Platform] supplies to deliver the media exposure that they expect from us.
We utilize their tracking of media hits for our overall reporting to our clients.
Both of these are advantageous in helping us to not only keep our existing clients happy but also to gain new clients (and, in turn - revenue), as well.

The use of the software allowed the minimization of activities associated with logistical support to field staff. That reduced the time associated with these activities by about 15% of the initially estimated time.
The aforementioned reduction translated into decreases in expenditures in the order of $ 2000 / day.
