EmpCenter is really well suited for companies with minimal variety in time keeping needs. Certainly somewhere that has fairly regular work schedules and operational needs the system would be programmed for and meet those needs quite well. I think they assert themselves as a product specifically for those more complex companies, and I believe it is one of a few products available for companies with many employee types and complex work schedule and pay needs, but because of those complexities each have their own specific customizations I feel it is difficult for the company to then manage the different products that end up existing. Each ends up being unique so applying large scale changes doesn't work well as something we may request and need if applied over EmpCenter in general may cause problems for another company. Therefore everything has to be done on an individual basis and is more time consuming and costly.

This software is very well suited for law enforcement agencies of all sizes from 5 to 5000 officers. There is a mobile app that allows officers to quickly and easily search while out in the field or on a call. They can quickly review a policy, locate a form, pull up a map and much more using either the mobile app or the desktop application.

Verint KMS is great for organizing content by categories for different teams and by different topics. It is easy to search and the Related Content makes moving from one piece of content to the next relevant piece quite easy. On the authoring side, the ability to schedule publishing or expiration is very handy. It is also really easy to make edits and have content ready and published for readers quickly. Verint's KMS isn't well suited if your users wish to be able to organize their favourited content or if you need a wide-range of options on the authoring end of things.

  • A lot flexibility in configuration of the system
  • works well with other systems. We were able to collect data from another time system, Avaya phone systems and even a point of sale system with not a lot of difficulty.
  • They know their product and integration points. They were able to troubleshoot problems with hardware time collection devices quite quickly. We found the devices they sold to be quite durable.
  • Out of the box they have more reports than I would have anticipated. Creating new reports was sometimes a task if it was complex but there were usually similar reports you could use as a starter template

  • Policy management- [Users] sign for, and can take [tests] to prove understanding of policy right in the application. As [the] policy is updated, old versions are retained, so that we not only know what a policy contains, we can track changes and provide information on what a policy was at any given time in the past.
  • Training- Users receive notifications when training is due and are guided to complete the training. If the training requires recertification, PowerDMS can be configured to alert the user that re-training is needed, without a supervisor needing to keep track. All documents used in training, including presentations and videos, can be contained in the PowerDMS course, so we can prove not only that an employee was trained, but exactly what curriculum was use din any given training.
  • Accreditation Assessment- [Our] accreditation standards manual is uploaded directly into PowerDMS. Proofs are accomplished using the actual policy and procedure, as well as the documents created during the workday. There is absolutely no duplication of effort.
  • Communications accountability- Email [can] be read and forgotten. With PowerDMS, a document can be distributed for user signatures, insuring that the user took affirmative action to read and understand the document.

  • The tools to submit and manage user feedback are very effective - they help us respond quickly and interconnect the feedback to the applicable content.
  • The end user experience is clean and feels familiar, making it optimal to support a group of people who generally have never experienced a KM application before.
  • Our audience responds well to our ability to insert images, GIFs, videos, PDFs, and more into our content.

  • The Workflow process in PowerDMS is not as easy to grasp as some of the other concepts and requires a little more explaination, especially for non-administrative background users.
  • Users are unable to view the steps in a Workflow template in order to determine which Workflow would work best for their needs when routing documents.
  • It would be great to have multiple message options for past due inbox notifications in addition to the options for past due tasks to encourage users to go to their inbox to review their messages.

  • The authoring side could be improved with additional options for fonts and easier formatting for table content. I have issues with trying to add colour to one portion of a table and not the other, so I have to resort to creating in Word first and then copying over to Verint. There is also no option to create steps in one row and the next step in the next row. I end up just adding 1., 2., etc. manually.
  • Many users would like to be able to organize their bookmarks into folders and the system doesn't allow this. Many have taken to creating bookmark folders in Microsoft Edge instead.
  • There were a few bugs that went on for a few months that made the initial launch of the KMS more difficult for the users and on the authoring side. The issues were with how the search results came up and what displayed for related content. It wasn't the best first impression for our agents using the system while on calls and made it more difficult. The issues were fixed after a few months of use.

There is a learning curve as with any software system and I have found those users who consistently use the system more have a much higher success rate than those who only log in to sign off on documents. Now that most users have been in the system for over 2 years I consistently hear how much easier the processes are than they originally thought they would be

Verint KM has many features that - when used the 'right way' can expedite search, content usage, and maintenance. Unfortunately, not all end users want to be bothered with 'the right way' and are looking for simplistic and predictive options (which any KM solution would be hard-pressed to deliver).

We use PowerDMS in the cloud so our performance might be different from other users who use on-premise. The program has always been up with very minimal downtime and always seems responsive and snappy when navigating the UI and searching documents. We don't currently have any integrations with other software.

Implementation of PowerDMS was near seamless. The product was able to input existing policies and procedures within a few hours, which helped to lay the foundation for future use. Having PowerDMS on-boarding readily available was also a huge benefit.

EmpCenter is a new software to the company however, I only trained on the old software for a few months before EmpCenter was introduced. I think EmpCenter has a smoother data entry process and can run more in depth reports, but since this is the system I know best I cannot accurately compare it to previous software.

PowerDMS is a lot different than Linkedin Learnings. In PowerDMS you have to create your own courses versus in Linkedin Learnings they provide extensive content on a wide variety of subject matter. Linkedin Learnings is what we have used in our organization for Bias Training and Ethics Training. PowerDMS is the repository for documents and Trainings, so the systems work very differently

All of these tools were very useful and practical. For our decision, it came down to understanding our core audience - we determined our average associate was largely unfamiliar with call center and office work in their prior work experience, and as such they would not have previously worked in a KM application before. To help adoption, we sought the solution with the simplest and most familiar interface, and based on internal focus group feedback, that was Verint KM Pro.

  • EmpCenter has reduced the amount of time administrators are spending on payroll. Certainly it has made our entry to our pay system more efficient since we can simply load the data from the time keeping system and we are not collecting actual physical signatures and paper timesheets that must be reviewed for accuracy and completeness. The system does this for us and some automatic calculating of certain pay due that we were hand adding. However the feedback I am getting is that the supervisors feel their work has been increased greatly. They are spending more time correcting and approving time. Essentially the work we were doing in our central offices to review and correct time the supervisor must now do as they approve the time. We have now asked them to be more responsible for proper reporting and use which requires they know more about the rules and many different aspects of pay than they had before. We have employees who are union represented and get some benefits from the contract others do not receive, contract employees who have certain pay aspects in their contracts that must be known, as well as temporary employees and students who get very different pay from the other employees. While some things have been programmed for the system to know and handle, some things must be added to the time sheet to pay properly or the way time is reported is different (some clock out for lunch some don't) supervisors must now know these differences while that used to be a role that was more mine as an administrator. Now I just help them and audit and review.

  • Content is easier to keep up to date and publish on an urgent basis.
  • Some users love the system, while others still find it difficult to find the information they need and miss the former guides we used. I think this is a result of the system issues that persisted for a few months after launch and will hopefully improve with time.
  • Users love being able to submit feedback and it makes it easier for errors, missing information and out of date information to be caught and fixed.
