Any sort of database--keeping records of all of our volunteers, recipients, organizations, etc

I couldn't envision an enterprise solution of Innotas that would incorporate Information Management projects and other business projects. In other words, I think an Enterprise PMO would struggle setting up Innotas to meet the needs of ALL players.

Pros

Airtable

  • Great user experience and minimal learning curve. It wasn't until I became aware of Airtable that we found a solution that allows us to implement the best features of a collaborative RDBMS with our staff who don't have any training. I had previously used Zoho Creator and found that it was difficult to onboard new users because of a steeper learning curve.
  • Easy to share views and invite contributions via forms.
  • Blocks add significant functionality that would be hard to custom build.

Cons

Airtable

  • I'd really like to be able to link records or a view between bases within my workspace.
  • The form designer is not as featured as we're used to with Google Forms.
  • I'm using the Airtable Importer by Railsware to bring Airtable data into Google Sheets. Import from Google sheets would be a great feature.

  • Integration with Outlook.
  • Ghant chart view cuts off the description of the tasks.
  • Bulk edit for resources in projects.

Sometimes, I have to wait a bit longer but I'm on a low priced option so I understand why. Generally, they're able to provide me solutions to my problems as long as I'm not in a rush.

We do use Social Studio and Sharepoint for other tasks, but for project planning across a wide variety of deliverables, there wasn't enough flexibility all the time. Asana was harder to use and get into and didn't provide an easy way to adjust views/sorts.

We use JIRA in addition to Innotas. Innotas simply tracks the time spent whereas JIRA tracks the process and flow of the work. As I stated in a previous part of this review, I wish we could integrate the two where our time added to tasks in JIRA could roll up to the project in Innotas without having people duplicate their time entry.

Return on Investment

Airtable

  • It's too soon to have conclusive evidence of ROI, but I suspect our improved ability to manage our partner and donor relationships will improve, thus leading to positive ROI in the future.

  • Some users think it's time consuming, although if they were trained properly and understood the benefits of Innotas, it may be different. So, possibly having quick tips within Innotas to help users better navigate and use the system itself.
  • It's definitely been a huge help with reporting statuses of projects and being able to hire additional resources when people are overloaded.
