Considered Both Products
AlphaSense
Chose AlphaSense
AlphaSense seems to be on par with competitive landscape analysis and relevant drugs and companies
Chose AlphaSense
AlphaSense is a lot easier to use and I see it as a single purpose product whereas FactSet I'm more using to pull data
Chose AlphaSense
I use both for market index research but oftentimes I rely on AlphaSense for what's not in Bloomberg.
Chose AlphaSense
It's difficult to say as it has been several years since I used the above.
Chose AlphaSense
I have not used any other platform like AlphaSense.
Chose AlphaSense
Better team to onboard equity research.
Chose AlphaSense
AlphaSense is more user-friendly and easier to load, manage and extract info from. Bloomberg remains a default for me and provides more ‘live’ info and financial info, which AlphaSense currently lacks.
Chose AlphaSense
I use both. Both have pros and cons. Bloomberg has audio for calls, AlphaSense doesn't, but it's easier to search through documents.
Chose AlphaSense
The search function is horrendous. The news search is inaccurate. The search results could be overwhelming, and most of them are irrelevant. Transcript keyword search is slow and clunky.
Chose AlphaSense
AlphaSense makes it easy to get to the right info quickly. The coverage of industries and companies for broker research is much more than the other products. AlphaSense also includes detailed financial info for companies and its AI-based summaries are helpful.
Chose AlphaSense
Alphasense much easier to use than Bloomberg Transcripts - rate it much higher
Chose AlphaSense
AlphaSense's smart search functionality is a huge differentiator versus these peers, particularly its ability to easily search through broker research (versus just filings/transcripts). In addition, AlphaSense makes it much easier to review multiple documents at once, and the …
Chose AlphaSense
We use a combination of the above.

As previously mentioned, CIQ and Bloomberg are better for market data (broker estimates, NAVPS data, etc.). The main difference is access to broker research and the excel plug in
Chose AlphaSense
AlphaSense is very differnet from other simlar tools I have used. However, it is very powerful for doing the things it is designed to do. Its search engine feature is among the best and most user friendly that I have used.
Chose AlphaSense
I really like AlphaSense but it's not a stop shop. For broker research / keyword search, its the best. But it doesn't have private company info, debt info, or the level industry metrics that PitchBook, Bloomberg, and CapIQ have. Additionally, it doesn't have financials at the …
Chose AlphaSense
AlphaSense has the best search / smart search functions. Refinitiv has more equity research reports, but AlphaSense has more than FactSet or BBG. All 4 databases do a comparable job of providing financials. FactSet has an impressive feature that allows you to jump within …
Chose AlphaSense
I think it lacks valuation sections and comprehensiveness, but I think it's specific qualitative search capabilities are better.
Chose AlphaSense
I think for searching and finding specific data AlphaSense is a far superior platform to Capital IQ or even Bloomberg. That being said, I haven't heard of or used an excel plug-in provided by AlphaSense, so it is difficult to compare from that perspective because CIQ's primary …
Chose AlphaSense
AlphaSense gives users the most pertinent information and allows for custom search of industry-level, macroeconomic, as well as company-specific data, which optimizes the research and information gathering process.
Chose AlphaSense
Much easier to use AlphaSense, its the closest thing to Alphasense I've used, but it's not close to how much more I like to use AlphaSense.
Chose AlphaSense
I trialed Sentieo before returning to AlphaSense. Sentieo (now purchased by AlphaSense) is where I fear AlphaSense may be headed: a bundle of services that loses focus on a core search capability. I use Bloomberg and do not want or expect AlphaSense to compete on the market …
Chose AlphaSense
If you have Bloomberg, the use case for AlphaSense is probably limited. If you don't have Bloomberg, AlphaSense can replace Capital IQ, and potentially BamSEC (though I still prefer that UI) and provide you with aggregation capabilities at a much lower cost (though obviously …
Chose AlphaSense
Different in lots of ways. Each vendor above has things that are unique. Bloomberg is a necessity for my role, but the AS like product they have (Docusearch) doesn’t compare. Alphasense is worth the money right after Bloomberg and Visible Alpha (which is significantly cheaper). …
Chose AlphaSense
I have all 3 platforms, and each have their benefits.

AlphaSense
AlphaSense works very well for researching topics related to companies, technologies and/or industries. The information access is super useful. Sorting by search relevance and filtering by source type can help curate the information to what you are looking for. One area that could use some help is how to digest that information down to usable chunks. If your goal is to synthesize the information into your research, then the platform seems to have some tools to help do that, but it will still be a manual process. A CoPilot or similar integration could go a long way to improving the time to value of using this tool and the information it gathers for you.

Depending on which area of the finance sector you may work in, the Bloomberg Terminal will have plenty of helpful functionality for you. Two specific scenarios for myself in the Structured Finance area are tracking the pricing benchmark and following outstanding deals in the market. You can follow progress of the deals, how well they are advancing, and final pricing details

Pros
AlphaSense
  • Key market trends- I input a topic name and get information related to the topic.
  • Competitor filings- Alphasense is able to get all the regulatory documents quickly.
  • Earnings calls- Alphasense now provides transcripts, which is incredibly helpful when I can't attend the earnings call live.

AlphaSense is a very useful tool and is reasonably priced for our organization. While I may not be a hyper-active user, it's a great resource when I need to quickly do a competitive landscape survey, review publicly available documents (transcripts, etc.), or review Wall Street research

Usability
AlphaSense
The ability to quickly move between transcripts/research is excellent, as is the previews generated of excerpts around search terms, and really increases efficiency/ability to find what you are looking for. The advanced search functionality is more challenging to use, and can some times be difficult to figure out how to set the exact parameters you are looking for (however, once you have the search in place, it is easy to amend)

Reliability and Availability
AlphaSense
The availability of Alphasense is great. I have used the software for multiple years and cannot remember ever having an outage issue. This is surprising actually, as I use other software applications that do not have regular outages, but still have outages periodically. Alphasense, on the other hand, never seems to have any outages. Good sign if I can't remember the software not working :).

Performance
AlphaSense
Loading or performing searches on AlphaSense platform is reasonably fast for most of the time. However, it is sometimes unacceptably long for me to load PDF files (earnings presentation, supplementary financial report) on AlphaSense. Certain features might also take very long time, such as loading for "similar tables" across EDGAR filings, or downloading tables from EDGAR filings

Support Rating
AlphaSense
Customer support is very prompt. I get personalized support for search recommendations and content that I could not find in my own search. Support checks in with me on a bi-monthly basis to keep me informed of the many different feature additions, I cannot find a more kind, understanding, and supportive team.

Online Training
AlphaSense
Trainers address the basics, and such training was meant for new users. Instructions are really helpful by providing scenarios that our team will face in our daily tasks. It will be more thoughtful if the training is conducted by case studies so as to allow new users to get first-hand experience during the training.

AlphaSense
We primarily use Aiera for live transcripts but their transcripts are not as accurate and a bit more glitchy. AlphaSense is really strong on that front and even organizes your printouts with smart summaries and a collection of all of your highlights. It is much better for organizing your thoughts.

While there are a lot of competitive services in the marketplace, each good in its own right, the Bloomberg Terminal is considered the top product. It has key fast information and can help individuals make fast decisions. It also has a top-tier support desk that can answer questions for you and teach you functionality to apply to your role

Return on Investment
AlphaSense
  • AlphaSense has allowed us to generate deeper competitive insights. For example, we conducted an in depth analysis of the aerial data analytics (drone) industry, and AlphSense helped us narrow in on the market leaders and their various strengths / weaknesses.
  • AlphaSense has improved our team's overall efficiency. With Stream in particular, we are able to pinpoint insights in a matter of minutes through the transcript feature as opposed to having to conduct a series of calls ourselves. This is a significant time saver.
  • AlphaSense has allowed us to make more informed decisions on our public holdings by providing us with unfettered access to equity research analyst reports.
