Canto
Canto is ideal for companies that have a lot of items to keep tabs on, such as sales collateral or other materials needed internally. Canto is great for corporate use because everyone can access it easily via a simple link. However, there are times when finding items in Canto was difficult, but honestly, that is probably more user error than anything (such as naming conventions and whatnot). All in all, Canto is a very good product.

Cloudinary handles pretty much anything you have related to images. From serving them up efficiently to adding transformations on the fly, there's really little this service doesn't do. Their pricing plans allow you to grow into the right levels and their website dashboards are very helpful. I would easily recommend this for all but the simplest of use cases.

- The in-tool search and tagging features are very robust, allowing us to find the specific assets we need fast.

- The download button is hard to find, a little obscure and I'm finding that employees are having a hard time figuring out how to download images without help/instructions.
- I had to write up detailed instructions for employees on how to use Canto. It's not exactly user-friendly and self-explanatory upon first use. You have to use it a while to fully understand all capabilities.
- When you do a search, there's the option where if you mouse over the search icon, a tool pops up allowing you to "search within" and the option to select other search filters. This is not easily findable. I have to tell people about it to narrow their search.

- Their API does require URLs that can get quite lengthy and not always easy to parse on sight.
- Documentation on how transformations work and what they actually do to your image could be clearer (what does force_strip actually mean?).
- Although a free tier exists and is quite generous, should you need to acquire a premium plan for your needs the pricing at scale can climb quickly.

Canto is about as easy to use as it gets. I have personally trained a handful of employees who are unfamiliar with DAM/marketing SaaS technology on how to use the platform for their needs. These trainings only take about half an hour (given they are using a very limited set of Canto's features), and afterward, they are pretty well-equipped to use the platform.

Cloudinary is very easy to use and offers fast way to upload your images, files and videos to their servers. Then they give you quick ways t implement those files or images onto your website using their API or just a normal URL. They also give you very fast ways to make edits to those files and include them in the url.

I have done demos with A LOT of other digital asset managers and chose Canto out of all of them. Most of the Digital Asset Managers I used all do similar things. They all hold photos, they all have some kind of folder organization, and some have searchability and tagging. But overall Canto was the one for our team. It had an unbeatable price for the amount of storage. It had amazing searchability. The onboarding experience was very quick and painless. They helped us make the transition from all other platforms onto Canto. Canto was also the only service that third parties could leave comments on our content without having to pay for a seat on our platform.

- As of right now, we are still in the process of transitioning so I do not know any details on overall business effectiveness or any hard numbers. But as of now it seems very capable of handling the amount of information my company holds.
- I think it is an amazing perk that you can literally upload any type of file on Canto, and then you can open any type of file on Canto as well. It is amazing to find a product that lets you open and view CAD or DWG files without having the actual program!
