Overall Satisfaction with Canto
We use Canto to help us organize all of our media and make it easy to search. We have a bunch of different divisions that each have their own assets as well as content that is used across divisions. We were spending a lot of time searching for assets and Canto makes it easy for the end users to find what they are looking for directly.
Pros
- Facial recognition
- AI object tagging
- OCR text recognition
Cons
- The brand templates add-on is very difficult to use. It sounds great on paper, but when you actually try to use it you find out it's very clunky and limited.
- Adding fonts to style guides is difficult. Would love to see some sort of integration with Adobe and Google fonts.
- Duplicate finder only finds exact duplicates, so if a file has been run through processing of any sort it doesn't find it (ie Photoshop, Lightroom). Would be great if it could have some sort of optical duplicate finder.
- Our design team loves having access to all the assets they need right from within the Adobe suite.
- Having a single source of truth for our assets makes it easy for us to direct people to the right place.
- By having all these assets in the same place, our hope is that divisions will have better visibility into what assets already exist and will repurpose them when appropriate.
- Bynder, MerlinOne, Pickit, Acquia DAM (Widen), Adobe Experience Manager, Box, PhotoShelter for Brands, DASH Platform, Brandfolder, Brandworkz, IntelligenceBank and Daminion
Canto was one of the most cost effective options and was the only one that included all of the features that we were looking for (AI tagging, facial recognition, PMS integrations, OCR text recognition, etc)
