For the most part, this is a great software solution for the average user. For consulting it's ok, but [there aren't] that many reach features.

Slack is the appropriate software for small, medium, or large companies, this software is capable of adapting to any work area and allows all sectors to maintain wide communication that helps them have a better sharing of information and data of great importance. Its chat channels are very stable, it has a perfect interface that is very easy to use and quite comfortable. The chat channels are very complete, allowing you to transfer all kinds of files and share any image with the members of the chat channels. It does not matter if Slack is in the project sector, or in the Sales sector, it will also bring remarkable results in performance, planning, and work communication.

Slack

  • The main feature that I love about Slack is the section below the main panel, where I can access unread messages, specific threads of conversations and also gives me access to all the mentions that have been during my downtime . In addition, I also have a visualization of the messages saved in this section, so I have everything in one place, everything very organized.
  • Slack has an excellent integration with the Marketing system of our company, in this way we can have a wide administration of emails and marketing automation while conducting a team conversation. This integration is quite functional and has a very notable success for our Marketing sector, we can have long conversations while managing the marketing, all from one place.
  • I love the notification system that Slack has, it's the great synchronization it has. Slack allows me to receive notifications on all devices linked to my Slack account, which helps me receive notifications on my phone and also on my desktop computer. These notifications are sent simultaneously, which allows me to be active and view all the movement that occurs in the chat channels.

  • Recording feature cannot record phone sound just computer sound.
  • Recording feature does not generate a file with "known" extension, it needs specific player.

  • The search feature could really be improved. It is quite difficult to find something specific with the search function as no matter the parameters and filters that you set, it seems to never return what you are looking for.
  • The UI could use some help. The basics are there and easy to use, but Slack offers a ton of ways to customize the experience and this causes the setting screen to be a huge convoluted mess, but also switches and options can be found in numerous places. This makes it quite difficult when you are trying to find a specific option or need to know if it even exists.
  • The Android mobile app (can't speak for iOS) can be buggy at times. Navigation sometimes doesn't work as expected and the read/unread status on the contact list can be erroneous. I mostly use it for after hours messaging so it's very light use and therefore not a big issue, but it could be annoying to a mobile-only workforce.

It is just an all around excellent product for a company with over 100 employees whom work in various locations around the country. We have remote workers, as well as people that work in the office every shift, so it makes it much easier to communicate with everybody in the simplest and fastest way.

Everything just works. I think the navigation and usability is quite intuitive. I have never had to look up any information or google how to use a feature of Slack (both in the desktop form and on the mobile app). I've never heard any complaints from our other employees either. I have been asked to remind people how to set up reminders, ironically. Although that itself is really simple too (you type "/remind" and then the reminder details).

I've never had to contact support for Slack which is a great testament to its ease and use. Adding people outside of the organization takes a little getting used to, but ultimately allows for greater collaboration between FTE and contractors. There is no clear alternative to this software, so it's the best we can do for now.

It is simpler to use compared to other tools. Microsoft has a great product but there are a lot of bugs. And compared to GoToMeeting it has more features.

Slack is widely used in IT organizations. It gives return values of we had [invested] in it. It provides most of [the] features which need in [the] organization like file sharing, chatting, etc. It has many app integration[s] for task management, meeting schedules, etc. UI is not modern but it is easy to use for any employees.
