Diligent Boards vs. Tableau Public

We had a meeting and after the meeting, additional information was added to the book and it was easy to navigate just the information that was update. This made it efficient when we had a follow-up meeting to discuss the updates and be able to reference the updated information. This allowed us to have an effective meeting with a purpose.

Tableau public is the best platform to build dashboards for your personal profile and share with recruiters. It's always good to keep ourselves updated on the latest features, create sample dashboards and save them to a personal profile. Tableau public is free and doesn't need any subscription. anyone can create an account and start building reports.

• The confidential sandbox is a must, and Diligent Boards provides that environment. Most of the info we put on the diligent board is not downloadable and printable.
• It is very easy to make notes, highlights important info and bookmark pages. I used these functions all the time.
• Its excellent organization features.

• Data visualization: lots of different options, including bar, scatter, pie, waterfall charts to explore relationships between variables, and to present findings/trends to different teams
• Integrates readily with limited, though different data sources: TXT, CSV, TDE, Access
• Exports reports for review of different dashboards: client-ready/team-ready, with a clean and tidy presentation in PDF format (or hardcopy)

• not so easy to handle access when we have to arrange a specific, non-standard set up of access: sometimes we have to limit the access to one or few of the members of a particular book
• calendar function will be useful, but it is an additional cost

• Tableau Public (both Desktop and Server) like their "for a fee" counterparts offer very easy to learn and use tools to transform data into pictures and gain insights into your data. Most organizations report a reduction in development time of 10x vs. other similar tools, due to the intuitive user interface. That said, with Tableau Public, published workbooks are "disconnected" from the underlying data sources and require periodic updates when the data changes. Users are limited to 1 Gb of storage space per user ID and password as well.
• I would like to see better options for public sharing of visualizations and data from within the "for a fee" products as more and more organizations are moving in the direction of data sharing with partners and their communities.

We find the Boards portal to be an effective tool for our board meeting documents. It is user friendly and allows for amendments, additions as needed without compromising documents that have already been uploaded. Additionally, our Board members are comfortable with the platform and confident in their ability to navigate it.

It's free, right? I'll keep using the free version. So the real question to ask is this? Will I pay $999 for the Personal version or $1,999 for the Professional? Yikes! That is a big stretch. Again, it is a very easy program to use. What would I change… There’s some features in the agenda that I would like to have. The ability to add different bullets underneath items. the ability to do an AYE vote. Because sometimes they don’t individually vote, my superintendent or School Board chair will say I’ll say hi or I’ll say, and it would be really nice to have a button that automatically fills for that.

Tableau public is a great training tool to understand the basics of Tableau before buying it. A great tool to extend Excel's visualization and to publish data for others. Not useful for anything you need secure. No ability to access databases. Static information only.

Diligent helpdesk (Team Topaz) is a click away, their response is very quick

Quick service, specially on loading.

The turnaround time is great, and the customer support team usually resolves queries in one go. However, customer support can improve by suggesting additional helpful activities to improve user experience, rather than limiting it to the specific requests made. Overall, it has been a positive experience with the customer support team.

I found it sufficient, and fast. I could easily "kick the tires" with Tableau on my data so I got up and running fast.

Start at the end and work backward. Identify the business case / issue and questions the end users have, then identify the data needed, and where to get it.

Diligent Entities is already great, as I used it before Diligent Boards, and it was very helpful and very cost-effective as a product provided to my previous team that used it. So I can only vouch for the platform and note that Diligent Boards is also fantastic. It certainly is.

Google Charts/Drive is sufficient for simpler data sets, but it does not integrate with other web platforms and the visualization does not look as professional. I'm not aware of any other competitors that offer the same package as Microsoft.

• Ease of dissmeniation and administration of packages (errors can be easily corrected)
• Directors can read packages from anywhere in the world at any time. It makes prep for Dircetors a lot easier
• Keeping records of meetings, doing searches for information has become easier and less time consuming
