Indeed
Well suited for searching the database for qualified resources, not well suited for those posting jobs. That is especially true if the job posted has a broader appeal, or applies to many job seekers, since it will attract hundreds that you will not have time to review. We have found that 1 in 20 are even qualified and have the basic requirements for what we post

LinkedIn Recruiter is better suited in terms of the filters it provides to search for a pool of candidates. Features like past and current companies, past universities, or years of experience, AI Search, and AI message drafting do wonders in terms of recruitment. But some more filters can be added, which will help further in recruitment. For example, Boolean search in job titles, targeting specific keywords in recent experience, etc.

Pros
Indeed
  • The best free job advertising platform out there that is easy to use and integrates with our ATS Greenhouse
  • ATS (Greenhouse) automatically posts every job to Indeed and requires zero effort
  • Formatting of the the jobs from my ATS look good when "pulled" over to Indeed
  • Able to integrate questions with rules that allow you to shortlist candidates in a more timely fashion
  • Sponsoring portal has change a couple times. I do not love the new format as of 5/2021 but it is not bad.
  • They allow you to use a credit card for sponsoring which linkedin will not
  • Sponsoring criteria is good and has many options

  • The scheduler is my most favorite part of Recruiter. Super easy and organized to use.
  • It also can integrate with my applicant tracking system when and if I hire from LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • The fact that you can see an applicants full profile gives more information than just a resume when selecting candidates to interview.

Cons
Indeed
  • Indeed.com tends to have a lot of fake listings or listings which overstate a role and that drives some users away from using the service.
  • Indeed.com's aesthetics are a bit dated so although the web sites functions are mature they also are a bit bland....if that matters to someone.
  • They seem to try and push the sponsor (cost to you) job lists a bit strong.

  • For some reason, whenever I click "View in Recruiter" it takes me to the project summary screen instead of that candidate's profile in Recruiter
  • It would be nice if candidates got automatically moved to the appropriate stage when an action is taken (ie "Contacted" after sending them a message)

Usability
Indeed
Indeed does its job best in job postings, Sourcing resumes, and internal communication where our personal details can't be enclosed. Various filters help us source the particular resume.

This portals helps to source the profile directly from the LinkedIn where I don't need to check the resume and LinkedIn separately every time. LinkedIn Recruiter is the best platform for posting the job effortlessly. It requires only few details and we can get response quicker.

Support Rating
Indeed
I haven't had to use Customer Service much for Indeed.com but the few times I've had encounters they have been very nice and helpful. They ensure you are getting the most out of your money with the resources Indeed has to offer. You can speak to customer service over the phone or on a quick messenger setting on the website depending on what your style is or how easy you feel your question is.

Indeed
We used and are still currently using other job boards. Some are free of charge, some are paid services. We do not want to stop using Indeed.com since it provides up with ability to post job postings for free. This is really appreciated. We do not want to disclose names of other services.

SeekOut has a diversity filter, which I like. They also list some candidates that are not on LinkedIn, but ultimately SeekOut routes me to LinkedIn. So technically SeekOut allows me to screen for filters that LinkedIn does not, but I actually end up using LinkedIn Recruiter to manage and communicate with the candidates.

Return on Investment
Indeed
  • Higher turnover in general for the positions we have hired for from Indeed which in some instances can hinder productivity. It is important to know that when using Indeed, you are getting volume/quantity and not necessarily top-performing employees.
  • It seems like the employees found on Indeed are constantly job hunting even when currently employed.
  • For our large-scale hiring, Indeed, all in all has had a positive impact as we are always able to fill the positions due to the large pool of resumes always on hand.

  • It's a must have for reaching passive candidates.
  • Love being able to identify candidates we may need in the future and saving them in a project.
  • It's difficult to cut through the noise using Inmails since everyone is using the tool.
