MarketMuse vs. Netpeak Spider vs. Semrush

As I am a content marketer, every day I have to fight to get top-ranked for my articles. So, SEO should be perfect. For my content side of SEO, MarketMuse is a lifesaver to me. It helps me to plan my content, get the score of my content, and the suggestion to optimize my articles. It saves my time and money too.

[Netpeak] Spider is a great service for:

• Checking and monitoring big websites or e-commerce projects for technical errors on regular basis
• Creating custom formulas for calculation of internal page ranks and building a tree view with this information
• Get reports that include metrics for every page (performance, inbound and outbound links, indexing status)
• Create reports that include all metrics from external SEO services like Serpstat or Similarweb for every single page of your website

It's very useful software for SEO or marketing agencies that have a lot of projects to work with, but might be overkill for small projects and companies.

This is suited to plan for keywords in a single market, but it struggles when you need to consolidate several markets. It is well-suited to discover new keywords directly related to the ones being used currently to expand the content the company is creating to get better results.

• Availability of content inventory on MarketMuse makes it easy to measure the quality of the content before uploading or updating it.
• With AI-generated content, I am able to write and upload content like a pro that has high-ranking keywords.
• Identifying key topics and subtopics while creating content to upload on the blog saves a lot of time.

• Crawling data and metrics from every webpage on website (page structure, titles, meta tags, Google GTM & Analytics presence)
• Building tree with calculation of internal page ranks
• Get a report with different technical errors (404 errors, broken links, duplicated content, )

• Great visuals for keyword position tracking, love that you can see the page that is ranking
• Enjoyed the auto-generated reporting feature (specifically in the context of keyword position tracking)
• Shows many different and useful views for competitive research
• Great templated keyword research tools for those who are not as hands-on with SEO
• I LOVE the Keyword Magic Tool for honing in on longtail, high-opportunity keywords

• Would be nice if the connect feature was domain swappable
• A better way to save and import queries would be nice
• Having some writing tool integrations would be nice

• You can buy a subscription only for month or more, you can't pay for 1-2 projects
• No version for MacOS
• It's only desktop software, online version is not available

• Extra seats can be expensive, as [an] agency with multiple team members this can be frustrating
• Backlink data is not great, misses out a lot of backlinks (better off using a specialist backlink tool like Link research tools LRT)
• Tracking multiple keywords, across multiple clients can be costly

I [previously] used Semrush for many years and I cannot find any other tool being so complete and easy to use.

The interface is a little less intuitive than it could be. The data is often available but filtering and manipulating the data can be a little difficult at times. Expanded comparisons would be helpful since most of the time seeing more than a few competitors at a time allows for a better sense of how to forecast.

Semrush available when you need it!

SemRush performs well with few errors!

The support I have received from all MarketMuse staff at each step of the process has been excellent. They are very friendly, quick to assist, and also provide really good training to teach you how to use their product. Additionally, their own blog is a wealth of information regarding different aspects of content marketing, from articles to video interviews.

I'm in a FB group for Semrush paid users and it amazing! They are fast to respond, take suggestions and help with questions. I have not felt alone in using this product at all. Highly recommend their support team. When I had an issue I can jump into the group and they will help get me the right person to help or even tag their programmers to look at something that is going on. Love the group!

MarketMuse is more cost-effective than BrightEdge and does more for writers and editors that are strictly focused on content. It keeps people in one system after their first draft. Writers and editors do not need to go into multiple tools to look things up manually, saving valuable time. This enables them to produce more content more quickly.

We choose Netpeak Spider because: 1. Can buy a monthly subscription and have unlimited number of websites to check. 2. Price. It's affordable, especially when you have not only one project. 3. Frequent updates. With every update functionality is expanding (latest update for example brought a lot of new integrations). 4. Quality of reports. They are very detailed and have everything we needed for our work.

We have used both Ahrefs and Semrush extensively at our agency and Semrush remains the tool of choice. We find that Semrush has the largest selection of tools & features to use, with the highest accuracy, and provides top-tier analysis recommendations. It's really is the ultimate all-in-one tool when comparing other performance measurement tools in the digital marketing space.
