Google Tasks
Chose Google Tasks
We switched from Google Tasks to Todoist as we like the layout and the functions more, even though we still use all the other Google programs. Nothing particularly bad but we enjoy Todoist more for our purposes. Google Tasks is even more simple to use than Todoist and has …
Chose Google Tasks
Google Tasks offers more powerful features that simplifies our day to day planning activities. Its seamless integration with G-Suite to enhance task management is uniquely great for us.
Chose Google Tasks
Google Tasks is not necessarily better than its competitors and certainly not as robust or complex as most to-do applications and platforms available in the market, but because it is automatically integrated into G Suite services--our primary technology interface--this free …
Chose Google Tasks
Initially I used Google Tasks because it was included in my Google Workspace subscription, and I thought it would be convenient to have a first-party solution that is tightly integrated with both Gmail and Google Calendar. However, I quickly wanted more robust features with …
Chose Google Tasks
Almost all of the to-do apps try to have a "must have" feature that will draw users to it. For some it is the graphical interface and some had a unique feature that lasted a few months before competition caught on.
For us, too much complexity is actually a bad thing and Google …
Chose Google Tasks
Google Tasks stand a little below the Microsoft To Do app, but stands well in terms of simplicity.

Here are the strong points of Google Tasks-
Todoist
Chose Todoist
Todoist: To-Do List & Talk Manager is so much better than Google Tasks for one simple reason: nested project folders. There's also the smart text recognition when entering tasks in Todoist that makes it so much easier.
Chose Todoist
Ease of use, interoperability between platforms, and ease of integrating directly onto my calendar.
Chose Todoist
Todoist: [To-Do List & Task Manager] is easier to use and makes it easier to assign owners and determine a due date. I feel more confident that I know where and how a task will be tracked when I use [Todoist: To-Do List & Task Manager] versus any other similar software[.]
Chose Todoist
Slack has a lot of options but was not what we needed. If we would go back to a more detailed tool we would use Ryver as that has more functions we would actually use. TickTick is great but somehow Todoist: To-Do List & Task Manager worked out better for us, but that is a very …
Chose Todoist
Todoist: To-Do List & Task Manager is a more focused to-do app than monday.com or even Trello. It is simple yet flexible. However, Kanban power users will be underwhelmed by the limited functionality of the new board view. I hope that Doist will keep up the rapid pace of …

If other google products are already in use, it is very easy to get into Google Tasks as well and everybody probably has a google account, hence, does not need another account as well. It is helpful for simple to do lists, we would not recommend for larger project planning.

There have been lots of times when we need to add a new habit into our daily work routines, and having the option to do so in the To-Doist app on the very first screen is incredibly helpful. It's a good reminder, and I believe that professionals who truly appreciate and properly value the implementation of good habits would be very grateful for this feature. It's also a time saver because you don't have to manually type it in every day/week / etc.

Pros
Google
  • The best part, Google Tasks is FREE. No paywall, no ads. Just pure productivity. I was looking for some task-management app which is free, since it was difficult to get a paid one. I found that this was the perfect solution for me.
  • It's deeply integrated with other Google services like Gmail and Calendar. It can pick tasks with Gmail from emails, in the form of suggestions. It's up to you, completely. The tasks will appear in your calendar automatically, if it's time or date specific.
  • It's simple and hassle free to insert tasks and complete them. The app loads fast and hardly faces any crash. I encountered no such crashes.
  • It is present in multiple platforms. I would create a task in my phone, and would check it off on my laptop.
  • It's hassle free to add and check off tasks. It was very helpful for me in college.

Cons
Google
  • It may take some time & adjustments to build a workflow that covers your specific needs.
  • Need a feature to hide tasks that are weeks or even months ahead into the future.
  • Missing a full tab view where you can see all your different lists of tasks.

  • The Todoist application now works almost identically across all platforms. There is a minor improvement that I would like to see on iOS and that is the ability to show task count by custom filter.
  • In Board view, I want to be able to easily add sub-tasks to a parent task.
  • Besides those two minor improvements, I am extremely happy with the application.

Usability
Google
1. It's very easy to use and very user friendly. 2. It has all the essentials of a task-management app. 3. It is free and there is neither any paywall, nor any kind of ads. 4. It's hassle free to add or to check off any tasks in this app. 5. There is solid integration between tasks and other Google apps like Gmail and Calendar. 6. Never crashed, very rare chances of instability. 7. Support is very poor, don't expect more from a free app. 8. Acceptable Natural Language Processing ability.

Excellent features and concept, simple implementation, but the software is not very clear in training new users and communicating features. The occasional unexplained crash or freeze is not handled gracefully by the desktop software, requiring either the user or tech support to manually restart.

Support Rating
Google
Since the app is free, we can't expect to get a great support. 1. The app does not even have a dedicated forum where other members can help each other. 2. The app only has a feedback option, which I rarely think visits the team. 3. Even after sending many feedbacks, you can't expect a reply. 4. In a nutshell, if you face any problem, you can just wait. Nothing more than that.

I've used Todoist for about three years now and I haven't needed to contact support, which I'm considering a 10 out of 10. Honestly, their platform is so easy to use that I never had to look up a knowledge base or forum to be able to do what I wanted in Todoist. So I'm not sure what their support system looks like or how it works, but I do know that if I haven't needed support, that's also a good sign!

Alternatives Considered
Google
Google Tasks is not necessarily better than its competitors and certainly not as robust or complex as most to-do applications and platforms available in the market, but because it is automatically integrated into G Suite services--our primary technology interface--this free option has precluded us from needing to explore other tools that are often "better" but not as intuitive when so much time and focus is already spent within the Google ecosystem.

[Todoist: To-Do List & Task Manager] is significantly simpler and cheaper than most of the alternatives and doesn't complicate the management of tasks with a plethora of unnecessary features. While all the alternatives have strong feature sets, what Todoist does better than any of them is manage tasks, in theory the central point of them all.

Return on Investment
Google
  • Personally, has managed over 1280 tasks for me in the past couple of years that I have been able to check off thanks to the app
  • Has accurately allowed me personally to schedule out tasks into the future that I want to get done but don't have the mental space currently to be trying to remember or do

  • Location-based reminders ensured that my staff didn't miss things when they went onsite with a customer. This has led to renewals on a regular basis.
  • Sharing of task visibility for managers with their direct reports has enhanced 1-on-1 meetings and ensured that field coaches kept focused
  • The cost of Todoist vs. the value it creates is a huge selling point for the software. For the price per user, I've found nothing that even comes close!
