Community Insights

TrustRadius Insights are summaries of user sentiment data from TrustRadius reviews and, when necessary, 3rd-party data sources. Have feedback on this content? Let us know!

Users have made several recommendations based on their experiences with ARKit. The three most common recommendations are:

  1. Integrate into existing or new applications: Users recommend using ARKit to create immersive experiences within applications. They find that ARKit is a promising tool that can be easily integrated into both existing and new applications. This allows developers to enhance their apps with augmented reality features, providing a more engaging and interactive user experience.

  2. Practice and learn ARKit well: Many users advise taking the time to practice and thoroughly understand ARKit before starting any prototyping or development work. They emphasize the importance of familiarizing oneself with the capabilities, features, and best practices of ARKit. By dedicating time to learning ARKit well, developers can avoid potential pitfalls and create more polished and effective augmented reality experiences.

  3. Target Apple ecosystem: Given that ARKit is developed by Apple, users recommend leveraging it specifically for the Apple ecosystem. They highlight the seamless integration of ARKit with iOS devices, including iPhones and iPads. If the target audience primarily consists of Apple users, adopting ARKit can lead to better compatibility, performance, and user satisfaction.

However, users generally do not recommend using ARKit for Android development. Since ARKit is designed specifically for iOS devices, it is not compatible with Android platforms. Developers looking to create augmented reality experiences for Android should explore alternative tools and frameworks that cater to that specific ecosystem.

Apple ARKit is being used by the tech, product, and marketing teams.
  • Great sync between hardware and software
  • Visual-inertial odometry with ARKit2 is the best.
  • At times it can be laggy, taking time to recognize things
  • Limited to iOS
Apple ARKit is best where AR experience will enhance user understanding of the product. For instance, for a furniture app, AR via Apple ARKit can help users get an understanding of how the furniture will look. It also works well for use cases where we want to give human movement as an input for AR, so for instance for clothing apps that want users to see how they will look in a particular clothing style, etc.
  • It improved user retention.
  • It increased the app size, which is a drawback.
Apple ARKit is way finer and is the best option for iOS.
They are always proactive, instead of us getting to them about a problem or a new feature. Always quick to respond any time of the day. Hence, 10/10.
