Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite Review
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
I use Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite to build AWS architecture diagrams. I also use it to describe application flows for different stakeholders.
using Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite allows us to collaborate across multiple platforms without the need for a office 365 license. Collaborating with vendors and third parties makes it externally easy as well. Easy to use product
Pros
- Cross platform
- Web based interface
- Sso login
Cons
- Adjusting sizes by property manually
- Dragging images bigger can be more precise
Likelihood to Recommend
Works very well with AWS and other cloud platform templates
Lucidchart Review
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
For my department, we are primarily using Lucidchart as a process visualization tool. Wwe use it to document workflows, department, SOPs, handoffs, so that we have something we can give people rather than just a verbal training or a text document, so something visual they can look at.
Pros
- We had been Visio users for a long time as a lot of companies with the Microsoft Suite are. I think Lucidchart for us is a more accessible version of that kind of process visualization. It's easier for untrained and unskilled users to just get in and start building something. And so for us, that means that we can kind of push the documentation requirements out to a broader range of people because it's easier to use. People understand, it's intuitive, and they can start documenting what their departments do and create lasting documentation that persistent the company.
Cons
- Honestly, nothing jumps out. If I had to give a room for improvement off the top of my head, I think it's probably the internal search feature. When you're trying to figure out what shape you want or pull in a customized visualization object like a swim lane or something to that effect, you kind of have to know what that's called. And for some of our users that are new and don't necessarily know the terminology, it's hard for them to find the thing that they're looking for.
Likelihood to Recommend
So I think it's well suited, particularly, for internal documentation. So for our department, for other departments, when it's less suited is probably when you're pushing out more corporate level messaging, you're probably going to kick out to a PDF or something that's more static so that people aren't in an app. That's not to say that it's not suited for that use case. I think it sort of changes based on the objective. So we're not going to send out a link to Lucidchart to the company, we're going to send them the PDF.
Great Collaboration and Easy to use tool for diagraming
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
It helps create Sequence diagrams , component diagram, workflows etc for our product and software services. This helps to collaborate better being remote team to brainstorm and express our design and thought process, identify issues early on, get sign off from stakeholders. It also helps to get feedback from SMEs and identify corner cases or use cases missed
Pros
- Easy to use and create diagram specially mermaid diagrams
- Collaborative where easy to share with team members to do join design work
- Many great add ons like Azure/Google/AWS icons/blocks so its easy to represent components and technology thats being used in our service
Cons
- Easy to search for components thats similar instead of exact match like Natural Language processing
- mechanism to request for editing permission for Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite diagrams that were shared
- Better template or custom template that we can build using natural language
Likelihood to Recommend
Remote team that needs to collaborate , needs to create diagrams quickly using Azure/GCS/AWS and wants to use components from these tech stacks
Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite is the GOAT for collaboration internally and externally
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We use Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite for our clients as we are a tech company that half of us are in sales and product development, and the other half are implementors and consultants for our clients. So either we are using the tools for internal collaboration between product and sales to give potential customers the best demos we can, or as consultants we can collaborate with outside clients as to diagram their use cases and needs to demonstrate how we can improve their business processes.
Pros
- Lucid Chart diagrams processes very well
- It allows for project managment to help with client timelines
- Can help with org design
Cons
- The tutorials could always be improved.
- AI can we integrated so I can ask the AI tool how to do something in Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite, and it will tell me how to do it.
Likelihood to Recommend
Helps with diagraming and project management. Works well when you need to collaborate between different departments that share similar goals, or to help collaborate with clients. I haven't seen a lot of cases where it doesn't work for us yet. Probably isn't too helpful if you don't need to integrate other softwares you are using.
Real-Time collab for cloud architecture design
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
<div>I use it to diagram and collaborate on software cloud architecture. I've used it for several years, it has worked well for me when I need a mutual understanding of the cloud architecture, or when designing a new software service.</div><div>It is essential to have a diagram to ensure mutual understanding, and not just paragraphs of words.</div>
Pros
- Collaboration is great, I can even see my teammates' mouse moving around. Very realtime.
- Has icons from AWS, GCP, etc that I need to describe what I am creating.
- Easy to use and share docs with others, duplicate tabs so we can each propose changes from a current solution.
- Love the export options in Lucid
Cons
- Finding a document that has been shared with me (without having the link) is tricky, or the amount of diagrams becomes overwhelming and buries the document you actually need.
Likelihood to Recommend
<div>Lucid is great when collaborating remotely, and both people have access to a doc. Really shines in cloud architecture design, with official icons from major cloud providers.</div><div>I also enjoy being able to download a chart as a pdf, png, or any file type that I need.</div><div>Less useful for freehand drawing of random things, I prefer to not be on a laptop / use a mouse for those kinds of things. Not necessarily a shortcoming of the tool, more that an actual whiteboard is better, or at least an ipad with a pen.</div>
Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite charts for better diagrams
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
I use Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite to create diagrams of customers' product flow and help visualize the connection between components in our product, both externally and internally.
When we need to help customers' "see" a plan of action, that is usually very complex to just articulate, showing them the process and how elements connect to one another is a great way to get buy-in and collaboration. Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite helps me create these visualizations that I can share with customers and make sure everyone is aligned.
Additionally, we can use the app to create org charts and dependency diagrams.
Pros
- Integrate with google suite
- enables different types of diagrams
- have templates to help start creating a diagram or a visual
Cons
- The google integration is not smooth
- There are only a few options to import many elements at the same time, and their type is limited
- the template are not always easy to manipulate if the original structure is not exactly what you need
Likelihood to Recommend
When you need to create a diagram or a visual to illustrate a had topic.
When you want to show dependencies and connections between elements.
When you want to be able to share the content using google workspace.
It is less appropriate, if you do not have a vision in mind for what visual is would like to have.
A great tool for collaboration and diagraming solutions
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite is used to collaborate and create business process diagrams along with ERDs of platforms we work with in order help explain to potential customers how systems integrate. This is a useful for those who need more visual cues while presenting on screen or within Scope of Work Documents.
Pros
- Collaboration
- ERDs
- Flow Diagrams
Cons
- Finer pixel size, for example the distance margin between moving items on screen
- It would be great to integrate with Salesforce to draw out ERDs by recognising custom objects and installed packages, as often these are not supplied by smaller vendors accurately
Likelihood to Recommend
It is well suited to collaboaration with colleagues and customers alike, for creating flow diagrams and ERD documents. I have used it for this for a number of years now and haven't used a better tool. The ability to import draw.io documents is also useful which i recently noticed is possible.
10/10
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
I use Lucid for process mapping multiple processes at my job.
Pros
- Flow templates are great and user friendly
- All the templates in general are very user friendly
Cons
- I honestly can't think of any.
Likelihood to Recommend
It's great for structuring processes that aren't black and white. The ease of displaying "If-then" scenarios are great and visually appealing
Love the Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We use it to roadmap projects. This helps with our issues with knowing the road blocks, issues, and various action points that we need to address prior to actually getting into the project. We then use it as our source to ensure we are ontime and tracking towards completion. It is used across a team of approx 15 people.
Pros
- Setting out project plans
- Mind mapping group projects
- Assisting with note organisation
Cons
- Maybe the UI can be a bit cleaner
Likelihood to Recommend
I htink it is well suited to being used for project mapping and collaboration within teams and across teams to get on the same page when it comes to a project plan for future. It isn't as suited for mapping out solo tasks I think.
Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite is great 3
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We use Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite at work as a visual collaboration tool, both remotely and in the office in-person. We mainly it as a companion piece to Microsoft Visio to create more complete requirements gathering exercises, and also for Agile ceremonies such as retrospectives and sprint planning sessions. It's particularly great for enabling our teams to work together to understand complex problems remotely on a shared board.
Pros
- Remote collaboration
- Great templates
- Awesome account management team
Cons
- Migration from Miro could be a bit easier
- Additional fun templates (Miro had some great retrospectives)
- More facilitation training for users (Miro also provided more of these) using templated boards
Likelihood to Recommend
Very well suited to any type of Business Analysis work. Also great for project planning and portfolio reporting. Visualising problems and creating process flows also very good.
The BA team still prefer to use Visio for more detailed process mapping, so this could perhaps be improved.
