Great Software with Great Functionality
We use it primarily for a cross-platform chat solution. It is an alternative to group texts and long email chains.
- Speed - It's always very fast
- Ease of Use - very easy to use
- Notifications - Automatic notifications are key
- More tightly integrated video/audio calling capabilities
- Better integration with other software
We use Mattermost at Ortiz Gaming / IGS as the main communicator for all teams, integrating the offices in Sao Paulo, Mexico City, and the Philippines. We have previously used other solutions and chat services, but they were in some cases expensive for the number of users we have, or inefficient. We have migrated to Mattermost in the middle of the Covid pandemics, and we are very happy with the results so far.

Mattermost makes a solid free, open-source solution
Mattermost is used company-wide as a collaboration tool, providing chat and conferencing options

We use Mattermost as a communication tool for the entire organization. Management can send a message to the entire organization using an "Announcements" channel that all employees are auto-subscribed to. Additionally, we have channels for each specialty area within the company. HR created a channel for people to "Ask HR Anything". Members of a team can create their own channels and manage their own members. I find it intuitive and dare I say fun to use.

Mattermost is a great tool for small, shifting freelance teams
Mattermost is used by my company as a cost-effective alternative to other collaboration platforms. It allows us to effectively delineate our different projects and ongoing discussions, and add external users as needed to collaborate on specific projects without exposing them to other business discussions and unrelated projects. We have installed the self-managed version on our own server and have not leveraged the paid enterprise support.

Best collaboration platform for privacy-focused companies!
Communication with the whole team and subteams. Integration with other tools and software like GitLab. Arranging appointments and small planning of to-dos in Mattermost Boards. Possibility of self-hosting/on-premise hosting.

Mattermost for the win!
We use it as a way of communicating and team building across a staff of over 250 people spread out across the states. It makes everyone accessible, so there really aren’t too many breakdowns in communication, know that whoever you need is just a click away. I use this regularly as a way to team build and share informations with my peers

Instant on the messaging, runner up on the improvements
We use mattermost for all our internal communications & to collaborate. It's straightforward and easy to use as an instant messenger. We can integrate other tools that we use so that we don't miss out on important notifications. Also, helps us share files instantly instead of always resorting to email. During the pandemic, mattermost helped the team collaborate while working from home just as effectively as we did while at office. Thankfully, the tool also supports various plugins that help automate certain actions.
- Polls - the polls feature on mattermost seems to be perfect
- Text formatting on mattermost is great with a variety of formatting options that also includes code blocks
- Pinning and saving messages that you can come back to later on
- Search functionality needs improvement
- The mobile app needs serious work, extremely buggy and hard to use
- GIFs have been removed, would help if an alternate service could be incorporated
Mattermost the most prolific and easy to use open source platform for secure collaboration and increasing our productivity by bringing my team communication together, tasks and project management and workflow orchestration into a unified platform for agile software development. Establishing a communication channel for different teams and diff projects has been so easy. Sharing of files and communication between my teams in different departments has been one of the best thing.
- Markdown format for text messaging is great.

- Online and Offline indicators.
- The one dislike is how I miss my notifications at times on my mobile app and also desktop app.
- Quick audio call feature I guess should be included in this project and tasks management tool to boost communication.

Mattermost is the staple in our day to day communication. Not only witht the teams but also individual developers and people outside our team. Its where we ask questions about our work and have casual conversation when working from home.

great option for teams looking for an enterprise-grade solution
With the advent of cloud-based and SaaS software, it's hard to imagine a time when all companies had their own server rooms. But not every company needs to be on the bleeding edge of technology. If you're looking for an enterprise messaging solution that doesn't require you to change how your team works or spend thousands of dollars per month, then Mattermost might be just what you're looking for, and that's what it did for us.
- Integration with other apps: Mattermost can be integrated with third-party applications, such as GitHub, Slack and Google Hangouts.
- Mattermost's security model is based on the OAuth protocol, which means it can authenticate users without sharing passwords. The authentication process uses TLS encryption as well as two-factor authentication (2FA). 2FA is an extra layer of protection that makes it harder for hackers who have gained access to the initial login details to get into the account, so they'll need more pieces of information before gaining access again.
- You can use it on multiple devices at once: If you have multiple team members working from different locations (e.g., remote teams), they'll be able to communicate effectively thanks to the fact that Mattermost integrates with many different platforms such as Slack and HipChat.

Our Organisation has most of Collaboration Needs Satisfied using Mattermost - Team Chat, DevOps Integrations, Document Sharing
Initially, our staff was using commercial products specifically for chats and collaboration, but they were paid basically. We were charged per user. However, I found out Mattermost. They give self-hosted solutions (Mattermost open source), and it has features that could be purchased based on different requirements. Most of our needs are satisfied with the open-source version.
The main purpose of using it was security concerns. We wanted our data to be only to us, on-premises. So this satisfied the use case to have Mattermost self-hosted on our corporate rack. To date, we have been using it among our staff without any trouble. Mattermost has good options to backup data (store) on cloud platforms too. Also, our use cases consist of DevOps components integration which are satisfied (notifications) from our Jenkins Infrastructure. It has good simplicity of use, so I'll recommend it over other self-hosted chat solutions to anybody.

We have been using Mattermost for 2 years, it was a fast implementation, and the deployment was very good, we only need the help of technical support in specific cases, since it is a very simple system to install. Communications are very fast and with great protection of our information, we are more productive because we solve problems as a great team thanks to Mattermost's internal communications.

- Communication is made regardless of the distance where my colleagues are, it is very fast and does not slow down the progress of our work.
- We can create many channels and be more efficient, we enhance the internal productivity of each department.
- At the moment nothing negative about Mattermost, it is a comfortable system to use, we establish communications quickly and solve problems instantly, and the collaboration of our work team is totally aimed at success with Mattermost.
We used Mattermost for our between-the-teams communication in the company. A very useful tool, intuitive, and easy to get used to. Had all the features you may need. Another option was Diego, but when I joined, they had been worst using Mattermost for a while and I did like it a lot. Very nice interface and all the features for a proficient commun9 and interaction with people.

Excellent and Stable Collaboration Package with Intuitive Cost-Effective Capabilities.
Mattermost enables excellent collaboration and easy data management and effective project planning and estimates production ability is on top. We use Mattermost to create excellent useful project reports, emails, and contacts management. Analyzing data and importing data via its functional integration is nice and even lead management tools are very excellent and permission management and the workflow is easy to manage.

Excellent for our internal communication.
The most common case for Mattermost is internal communication maintaining privacy correctly, it is also very appropriate for direct communications with videos, we feel that the use is very simple and didactic. It seems that it can be used by a large number of people at the same time without affecting the operation, currently, it is used specifically in 6 departments, the use is increasingly wide thanks to the fact that it passes a simple and friendly user interface for all.

Mattermost is the main communication tool inside our company. We need to get in touch and maintain communications with several groups of developers, managers, and other groups inside our organization, sharing documents, code, and other resources, using different platforms (Desktop, Mobile)

- Different groups can be formed easily and the privacy is amazing.
- Flexibility to post big images, attachments is really cool.
- The options we look for should be more easily available with a change in its interface.
- Group deletion is still a big task. It should be easily available to all users.

Sharing information quickly
Mattermost is being used to share business-related information quickly like an instant messaging application. It is being run in different environments and messages sync quickly. The information can be delivered to a group of people at a time. We can send various CSV files, images, PPts, docs, etc. It makes the work easier and quicker.

A great chat solution for startups
Mattermost is our main chat platform which is used daily by tens of employees across our company and our contractors. Its web and mobile apps while fairly basic, work well with our on-premise deployment. Mattermost tries to distinguish itself from Slack/Teams by being privacy-focused by allowing anyone to host it and I think it's one of its key features.
- On-prem deployment.
- Limited tracking/telemetry.
- Scales well, doesn't require much maintenance.
- Basic features like custom status, collapsed reply threads are JUST rolling out - kind of slow for a workplace chat app.
- I don't really get the idea of Playbooks and Boards - there are better, dedicated tools for stuff like this and it's not so easy to turn off.

Mattermost is being used across an entire organization; however, it enables us to keep multiple workgroups in sync with each other and formulate best approach methods to tackle various problems that arise both internally and externally to the organization. We have geographically diverse individuals working within cross-spectrum workgroups to address problems that span vertically.

Making instant connection is very easy
Mattermost is an instant business messaging software that is used widely throughout the world. It helps to communicate with people securely and quite privately. This platform has control over my media files. When I participate in a meeting I can see the faces of all of the team members along with the project being shared on screen that helps me know their gestures regarding the project.
- I found this the smoothest app with advanced features that helps to express all feelings and knowledge properly. Its various tools and automation programs increase the collaboration with my clients.
- I use Mattermost to interact with my team members and clients without any disturbance and interference.
- It has an authentic search function that creates filtering automatically and provides amazing services.
- The login step which is an initial step takes time.
- Sometimes the video lags behind which creates discomfort.
- The brush should be easy to handle.
Mattermost is our main source of communication within our company. We use it to communicate within specific groups and disciplines, across the entire company, and for private messages. The most important factor when deciding on implementing Mattermost was it's HIPAA compliance. Within our healthcare company, HIPAA compliance is of the highest importance.
