Precaution with Paylocity!
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We use Paylocity as an HR platform as well as for processing payroll. We also use the time keeping function for our hourly employees. We were able to move away from hand written timecards and use the Paylocity app to clock in and out. We use the time off calendar for employees to submit PTO requests as well as see their PTO balance. Managers use the time off calendar to plan accordingly for when their employees are out.
Pros
- Our sales representative was very supportive, easy to reach, and attentive to our needs and issues with implementation.
- They are always asking for our feedback to continue improving the software.
- They have cooperated in taking care of issues we have had with implementation and doing what they can to improve our experience going forward.
Cons
- In my opinion, our implementation with Paylocity was extremely rough; the staff through implementation was not knowledgeable on the product and often we would have to provide the solution or show them how the software should work. Because of our database being set up incorrectly at implementation, we have been suffering with continuous issues for the past 5 months.
- When you call in to your account manager, in my experience, you rarely get ahold of them. You talk to a new person every time you call in for help.
- In my experience, their response time to issues is often days or weeks. I would have to send in the same question or issue multiple times to get an answer. Many of their responses were "canned" responses and I feel not actually helpful.
Likelihood to Recommend
I would not recommend Paylocity to anyone. We chose the software because of the functionality and user friendly feel. It was a major upgrade from the software we were previously using. Unfortunately, after signing the contract and starting implementation, I feel our experience went downhill quick. We had a horrible experience with implementation. My experience was that our representatives were not addressing our set up questions and problems and we found it hard to reach them. I felt like they were scurrying to get the system set up correctly 2 days before we were suppose to go live. I was putting in a lot of extra hours on nights and weekends trying to stay on top of all the corrections that needed to be made. I would have to tell our reps what we needed over and over again before it was taken care of then I would then have to double check their work because it was done incorrectly. Our implementation issues carried through to year end where nearly every single employee's W-2 was incorrect, payroll tax forms had to be amended multiple times, 1095-C's were incorrect, and so on. It has been a major headache. I believe if I could go back 8 months, I would 100% choose another software.
