Overall Satisfaction with MIP Fund Accounting

We are a non-profit membership association that also receives federal funding for training grants. We use MIP for the accounting of all functions of our organization, but it is most useful in the tracking of the seven different grants we currently have.
  • Allows for the separate tracking of funds
  • Great detailed reporting
  • Has been able to integrate additional modules for different organizations as they need them
  • Cumbersome in entering all the detail, but steps have been continuously made to improve efficiencies
  • Drill down of reporting
  • Reports are customizable, yet formatting is not helpful when you transfer to Excel
  • Detailed reports - helpful for Audit
We set up the Chart of Accounts and Functions in a way to easily separate and report as needed for the Funding Source requirements. I like the summary and detail you can get based off your needs. Have had successful Audits with details necessary to help provide all info needed. I do like the level of functionality and sorting options on the reporting
We have used it for so long, it has great history for the organization.
Yes, we have different funding sources for different grants. We are able to track individual [grants] and create easy reports that each funding source requires as well as maintain the overall reporting structure for the entire organization.
MIP has better reporting and more range for our custom needs

Do you think MIP Fund Accounting delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with MIP Fund Accounting's feature set?

Yes

Did MIP Fund Accounting live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of MIP Fund Accounting go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy MIP Fund Accounting again?

Yes

Hard question to answer. Currently, MIP is well suited for my organization in being able to track our grants by separate funding sources, yet fluid enough to let me determine the reports I need to prepare as an individual or for the entire organization as a whole.

No - we have had users with years of experience with the system. Only have a few issues. We use our inhouse IT first to see if we can resolve.
Most times, they have been helpful. A couple of times, it seems like they are just reading from a script and didn't understand my issue

Using MIP Fund Accounting

  • AP is straightforward
  • I like you have to balance certain Segments including Debits/Credits
  • Payroll set up - lots of screens and codes for additional benefits/deductions. It doesn't confirm that all tasks are complete. Not super intuitive
  • Tax reporting
  • Report Writing can be cumbersome if you don't have the extensive training. Not intuitive to give a standard format for you to update/personalize.
  • IMPORTS - not user friendly at all to write the codes needed.
ProsCons
Like to use
Relatively simple
Consistent
Feel confident using
Lots to learn
I have used the system for 15+ years, so I feel very comfortable, however, each time I had a new staff member, I had to walk through each step, training is very beneficial to all staff.

Integrating MIP Fund Accounting

  • Imis
Our Programmer designed a process that extracts AP info out of the MIP database to add to our Customized Imis system. The process works great, but it requires that the TEXT entered in certain fields have NO errors (no typos). This is not an error on MIP, but a flaw in how my organization extracts the info to perfectly Match with the info in our IMIS database.
  • File import/export
I think the import process could be easier
