Overall Satisfaction with Acumatica

We are a Retail / Wholesale tile distributor. We do point of pickup and dropship to customers. Some of our biggest issues is maintaining inventory via vendor Purchase and transfers from our distribution warehouse. Accurately receiving and billing the product is our largest issues. So having an easy to use interface is important.

Pros

  • Reporting - creating inquires
  • Data Collection - Lots of info to gather
  • Flexibility - the ability to create custom fields and parameters

Cons

  • Linking information from different documents that are related
  • Ability to constantly use the same unit of measure throughout the process
  • Forces us to use best practices and not cut corners
  • Reporting, being able to create on the fly reports in the format that I like
Acumatica VAR/Partner
We use the product to create vendor purchase orders and inter company transfers. It is flexible enough to allow us to modify the system for industry fields and titles.
Acumatica was much more modern and flexible. It did not try to put us in a box and do it their way.

Do you think Acumatica delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Acumatica's feature set?

Yes

Did Acumatica live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Acumatica go as expected?

No

Would you buy Acumatica again?

Yes

It is well suited to tracking simple inventory products. Those that use a consistent purchase and sells unit. Mixing sales units (base unit / carton / pallet) on the fly can cause trouble. Such as if you purchase from the vendor by pallet, then try to transfer by carton, it wants to use pallet.

2 - Basic IT, Operations, Accounting knowledge.
  • inventory management
  • accounting
  • sales order tracking
  • Creating marking lists based on previous customers
  • tracking material through multiple locations
  • more best practices in all areas
  • end of day event tracking like closing and opening check off lists.
We are still growing into all of the capabilities of the system. We have barely scratched the surface.

Evaluating Acumatica and Competitors

Yes - Epicore / Prism
  • Cloud Solutions
  • Scalability
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
Better evaluation of which VAR to use. We did a poor job on this and picked our first one without interviewing more VARS.

Acumatica Implementation

We had a poor experience with our implementation. We went through three different teams, and then rushed to go live. There were parts of the system that were not configured correctly.
We are 100% dependent on the implementation team, because at such an early point, we don't know anything about the system and how to set it up, so if the team doesn't ask the question correctly, we could accidently go down a wrong path.
  • Third-party professional services
Emerald
  • Poor planning
  • implementation team not very knowledgeable

Acumatica Support

Takes a long time to get back to me.
None of my cases were answered to my satisfaction.
Many of my cases are still open after more than a year or two.
ProsCons
Good followup
Slow Resolution
Problems left unsolved
Escalation required
Need to explain problems multiple times
Slow Initial Response
We purchased the basic support to try and were not satisfied with it.
Yes - No, we have bug cases that are more than a year old. They tell me that the case has been pushed to development. and am giving a work around that I actually suggested to the case manager.
My VAR provides great support.
I will discontinue my direct support contract.

Using Acumatica

There is a steep learning curve. There is a large online help, but it is very technically written. A more basic/layman's version would be helpful to learn the basic usage, then use the current help to deep dive into the subject.
ProsCons
Like to use
Quick to learn
Feel confident using
Unnecessarily complex
Difficult to use
Lots to learn
  • Menu and search features are nice
  • Ability to click on hotlinks to jump to other documents in the system
  • Data is spread into to many tabs or different modules
  • some of the fields are not explained well.
Yes - The mobile interface is good for quick and basic things. Not good for advanced or complex actions.
Ex. It is good to look up an existing order and see the basic status.
But is not good to enter a brand new sales order.
