Premiere Pro's a Great Tool
Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Premiere Pro
I use Premiere to make videos for training and/or marketing purposes. Our audience includes both internal employees and external audiences. I believe it's being used in other parts of the organization (although our Creative Team uses Final Cut Pro), but I use it in the Channel Enablement Dept for our videos.
Pros
- Very powerful program. I haven't come across anything that it doesn't do well in terms of video editing. As long as you have big enough monitors, you can customize the look for whatever works best in your editing environment.
- It integrates well with other Adobe programs, such as Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, etc.
- Being a part of the Creative Cloud, it's good not to have to pay a separate subscription price for it.
Cons
- It has a steeper learning curve than some other more basic programs (iMovie, for example). And when first starting, the UI isn't the most intuitive. It could be intimidating for the beginner until you get used to it.
- It takes a pretty powerful machine to run the program without hiccups. Lots of drive space, and memory.
- Sometimes the fact that it can do everything makes it hard to find the tools to do the basics.
- It's been positive in improving our training programs. I don't have a specific dollar saving for that.
I haven't used a product like Premiere Pro. The big competitor is Final Cut Pro, which I'd like to try out sometime.
