Overall Satisfaction with Amazon Web Services
I have been using Amazon Web Services for more than 3 years as of now. Its one of the best cloud computing platform, which has wide range of functionalities (services from Servers to ML, AI stuff) and the best part is all these services are provided in competitive pricing, also UI for the services is easy to understand and it has wide community following.
Pros
- Great Functionality
- Competitive pricing
- Wide community following
- Nearly 100 % uptime of most of the services
- Variety of Availability zones and regions
Cons
- Services can be sometimes having downtime
- So many newcomers have come to the category, want to learn from them as well
- Some services are associated with high cost due to low competition in the category
- Due to the elasticity of cloud, we can scale up or down without any upfront costs, and this have saved a lot for us. During COVID, we have scaled down our resources to 1/10th of the actual capacity, and this had positive savings and this can't be done if its not for cloud
- Support cost if we have enterprise plan would cost us a fortune
- ROI would be so high if we opt for reserved type of instances but the catch would be there is lock in period.
Both the services are in the field for quite sometime. And the biggest competitor of Amazon Web Services is Microsoft Azure. Though, Azure easily connects with Microsoft services like a jelly, even in AWS its so easy. And the best thing is due to its vast variety community following, we will be able to find n number of solutions for any type of issues we face.
