Overall Satisfaction with Appian

Appian is the best product to develop application with low codes and ease of maintenance. Upgrades have been working flawlessly as we have not encountered any issues so far. It is very simple to use the product suite to develop, and easy to maintain the platform at good performance. It is well supported by the Appian Community.
Appian is used in a complex workflow with approvals and notification in a timely manner. We implement across R&D and in commercial. It addressed the process of automation in replacing a manual process.
  • Low code. Easy to build workflow.
  • Low maintenance. Best practices can be easily applied. Supports Agile development. Version controls of process, rules, constants, reusable components, and community of plug-ins available.
  • Available on the cloud which is great for companies that don't require the overhead to manage upgrade and hot fixes.
  • Performance is excellent with performance monitoring.
  • Concurrent development needs to improve.
  • Deep analysis of dependency and make automatic changes in regard to dependency of objects.
  • Better support for agile deployment and versioning.
  • More integration with Office 365, and improvement on the flexibility of SITES.
  • We had seen an improvement in return of investment - decrease in cycle time of the bus. processes.
  • Decrease in the overall efforts.
  • Improved data quality and compliance.
We have reviewed Appian against other BPM application/suite such as Pega, Empirica, and so forth. In the end, we found low code with the Appian product to be the most robust and scalable with good performance. Like all evaluation criteria that they have to be balance with cost, performance, and return of investment.
Appian is suited in building low code quick wins. It is suited as well for complex workflow where SharePoint can't solved - difficult to manage and maintain. Low maintenance of low codes. It is a good case for PoC (proof of concept), small projects, and medium size projects. For a complex project, we need to be careful about performance and the duration of the development.
